General Responsibilities:
This position involves performing laboratory testing and as required, field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. The role requires effective communication with laboratory supervisors, project managers, client representatives, contractor personnel, and other stakeholders regarding test results, project requirements, and field observations.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform concrete, soil, and aggregate testing in a laboratory.
- Perform all testing in accordance with applicable AASHTO and ASTM standards and company quality requirements, ensuring accurate and complete documentation of all testing activities.
- Use tools provided to ensure timely testing and delivery of data/results to the specified individuals.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
- Submits documentation and communicates results as directed by the Lab Manager or other personnel as directed.
- As needed, communicate information to Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
- Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments. Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards in all work performed.
- Maybe required to safely transport material samples and associated documentation to the laboratory for further testing.
- Strictly adhering to all company and project safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent training required.
- Proficiency using a laptop and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Successful completion of applicable internal safety certifications.
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
Preferred Certifications:
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician or obtain within 60 days of hire
Additional Beneficial Certifications:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- Radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation
- NICET Level I in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, or Soils)
