Job Summary
This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the development and expansion of microbiology laboratory capabilities while gaining exposure to molecular diagnostic assay development, including real-time PCR and RT-PCR.
In This Role, You Will Have the Opportunity To:
- Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments in support of microbiology, assay development, and product development activities.
- Perform laboratory testing involving bacterial, viral, and fungal organisms in a BSL-2 environment.
- Apply microbiological techniques including microbial culture, microscopy, staining, and organism identification.
- Support real-time PCR and RT-PCR assay development and experimental studies
The Essential Requirements of the Job Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biology, or a related scientific field with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree in a related scientific field with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience working in a microbiology, molecular biology, clinical, academic, or industry laboratory.
- Experience handling microorganisms and/or clinical specimens in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.
- Experience with microbiological techniques such as microbial culture, microscopy, staining, and bacterial identification.
It Would Be a Plus If You Also Possess:
- Experience working with viruses or demonstrated expertise in virology.
- Experience with real-time PCR and/or RT-PCR.
- Knowledge of Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards and practices.
Pay: $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
