Scientist Jobs in Raleigh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a scientist job in Raleigh?
Target the life sciences, agricultural research, and environmental consulting sectors, which drive most scientist hiring in Raleigh. Research Triangle Park and the surrounding RTP campus are the densest concentration of lab and R&D employers in the region, while state agencies and universities along Western Boulevard and Hillsborough Street post steady openings. Candidates with hands-on lab experience and a background in data analysis or regulatory science move faster in this market.
Which companies hire scientists in Raleigh?
Raleigh scientist roles are posted by LexisNexis Legal & Professional, RELX, and UNC Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's employer mix combines global pharmaceutical and biotech firms based in RTP with state government agencies, agricultural science organizations, and environmental consulting practices concentrated around the greater Triangle area.
Are there remote scientist jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the specialty, since hands-on lab and field work must be performed on site while data analysis, regulatory writing, and scientific communication roles can shift remote. About 38% of scientist openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the strongest remote share in computational biology, regulatory affairs, and scientific writing positions.
How can I get a scientist job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Raleigh is a research associate or lab technician role at one of the CROs or biotech firms in Research Triangle Park, where employers regularly hire recent graduates for structured entry-level tracks. Agricultural science organizations along Centennial Campus and state environmental agencies also post junior scientist and field technician positions that require a degree but not prior industry experience, giving candidates a direct way into the local market.
