Security Engineering Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security engineering manager in Nebraska?
Most security engineering managers in Nebraska move into the role from a senior security engineer or architect position after building several years of technical depth. Nebraska has no state-issued license specific to this role, so employers focus on industry certifications such as CISSP or CISM, a bachelor's degree in a technical field, and a record of leading security projects. Nebraska's financial services and defense sectors place particular weight on compliance experience alongside the management credential.
How much do security engineering managers make in Nebraska?
Security engineering managers in Nebraska earn a median of about $92,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,830 for the lowest 10% to over $136,410 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security engineering managers in Nebraska?
Nebraska security engineering manager roles are posted by Metro One LPSG, HDR, and Google and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of insurance headquarters, regional banks, and defense IT contractors in the Omaha metro creates consistent year-round demand for this position.
Which Nebraska cities have the most security engineering manager jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Papillion are the cities with the most security engineering manager openings in Nebraska. Omaha generates the bulk of postings because it is home to major financial institutions, large health systems, and corporate headquarters, while Lincoln's state government agencies and university technology operations drive demand there, and Bellevue benefits from its proximity to Offutt Air Force Base and the defense contractors surrounding it.
Are there remote security engineering manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than many engineering management roles, because security leadership work is largely policy, architecture, and team oversight rather than on-site hardware. About 22% of security engineering manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employer flexibility at this level. Cloud security program management and compliance leadership tend to be the sub-areas most often offered with remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a security engineering manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving laterally from a senior security analyst or security engineer role into a team lead position at one of Nebraska's larger employers before stepping into a full management title. Mutual of Omaha, Nebraska Medicine, and the University of Nebraska system periodically post lead or supervisor roles that serve as structured entry points into security management. Earning a CISSP or CISM alongside demonstrated project ownership, even without formal direct reports, significantly strengthens a Nebraska candidacy at this level.
