IT Operations Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an it operations manager in Nebraska?
Most it operations manager roles in Nebraska require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field, combined with several years of progressive IT experience. Nebraska does not issue a state license for this role, so employers focus on demonstrated leadership experience, ITIL or similar framework knowledge, and industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified, or PMP. Building experience in infrastructure, help desk, or systems administration roles at Nebraska employers is the most common path upward.
How much do IT operations managers make in Nebraska?
IT operations managers in Nebraska earn a median of about $85,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,010 for the lowest 10% to over $193,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it operations managers in Nebraska?
Employers hiring it operations managers in Nebraska right now include HDR, Nelnet, and State of Nebraska, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of large insurance carriers, healthcare systems, and rail and logistics companies makes it a particularly consistent market for this role.
Which Nebraska cities have the most it operations manager jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Elkhorn lead Nebraska in it operations manager openings. Omaha dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters in insurance, finance, and logistics, while Lincoln's concentration of state government agencies, the University of Nebraska system, and regional healthcare employers drives demand there as well.
Are there remote it operations manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical roles, since it operations managers often oversee on-site infrastructure, data centers, and local IT staff. About 43% of it operations manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growing flexibility for strategic and oversight duties. Project management, vendor coordination, and policy work are the functions most likely to be performed remotely.
How can I get hired as an it operations manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into the role from a senior individual-contributor position in systems administration, network engineering, or IT support. Large Nebraska employers such as Nebraska Medicine, Union Pacific, and state agencies regularly post IT supervisor and team lead roles that serve as a direct bridge to operations management. Earning an ITIL Foundation certification and building experience with service desk tools and incident management processes makes candidates noticeably more competitive for those transitional roles.
Where can I find and apply to it operations manager jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to it operations manager jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nebraska openings from employers across the state. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your background and location preference, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
