Most senior clinical project managers in West Virginia enter the role through a clinical or life sciences background combined with progressive project management experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing, biology, or a related field is the standard foundation, and a master's degree strengthens candidacy at larger research institutions. While West Virginia does not issue a state-specific clinical project manager license, employers in Morgantown and Charleston expect candidates to hold or be pursuing PMP or CCRP certification as a professional credential.
How much do senior clinical project managers make in West Virginia?
Senior clinical project managers in West Virginia earn a median of about $91,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $54,070 for the lowest 10% to over $149,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior clinical project managers in West Virginia?
West Virginia senior clinical project manager roles are posted by Mon Health, WVU Medicine, and United Hospital Center and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. WVU Medicine and its affiliated research programs in Morgantown are a particularly consistent source of openings for senior-level clinical project management professionals in the state.
Which West Virginia cities have the most senior clinical project manager jobs?
Morgantown, Charleston, and Huntington have the most senior clinical project manager openings in West Virginia. Morgantown leads because WVU Medicine and the West Virginia University Cancer Institute anchor a significant clinical research presence there, while Charleston and Huntington draw openings through their large regional hospital systems and affiliated outpatient and specialty care networks.
Are there remote senior clinical project manager jobs in West Virginia?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, since much of the work involves data oversight, vendor coordination, and regulatory documentation rather than hands-on patient care. About 18% of senior clinical project manager openings tied to West Virginia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broader shift in clinical operations toward distributed teams. Protocol development, data management oversight, and sponsor reporting are the functions most often performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a senior clinical project manager in West Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a clinical coordinator or research coordinator role at a West Virginia academic medical center, particularly through WVU Medicine or Marshall Health, both of which hire coordinators with bachelor's-level credentials and provide structured exposure to trial operations. Moving laterally from a clinical research associate, regulatory affairs coordinator, or quality assurance analyst position is another recognized route. Earning a CCRP credential through the Society of Clinical Research Associates while in an entry coordinator role signals readiness for project management responsibilities to West Virginia hiring managers.
