West Virginia does not require a state-issued license specific to this role, but earning a Certified Clinical Research Professional credential through the Society of Clinical Research Associates strengthens your candidacy considerably with local employers.
How much do clinical project managers make in West Virginia?

West Virginia's academic medical centers and pharmaceutical manufacturers consistently represent the most active sources of full-time openings in the state.
Which West Virginia cities have the most clinical project manager jobs?
Charleston, Morgantown, and Huntington have the most clinical project manager openings in West Virginia. Charleston leads because of its concentration of hospital systems and health plan headquarters, while Morgantown is driven by WVU Medicine and the university's research enterprise, and Huntington benefits from Marshall Health and regional pharmaceutical operations that support ongoing clinical studies.

Yes, and more than many clinical roles, since the work centers on coordination, documentation, and oversight rather than direct patient care. Regulatory affairs coordination and sponsor-side trial management roles tend to be the most consistently remote.

The most realistic entry path is securing a clinical research coordinator or clinical trial associate role at a West Virginia academic medical center, particularly through WVU Medicine's research programs or CAMC's clinical trials office, which regularly bring on candidates with relevant degrees and no prior research experience. Earning a Good Clinical Practice certification before applying and targeting study coordinator postings at these institutions gives early-career candidates a meaningful edge over other applicants.
