Clinical Project Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical project manager in Texas?
Most clinical project managers in Texas enter the field with a bachelor's degree in a life science, nursing, public health, or healthcare administration and then build experience in clinical research coordination or trial operations. Texas does not require a state-issued license specific to this role, but employers across Houston and Dallas consistently look for candidates holding or pursuing the Project Management Professional credential through PMI, or the Clinical Research Associate certification through ACRP or SOCRA. Starting as a clinical research coordinator or study coordinator at a hospital system or CRO is the most common path into project management in Texas.
How much do clinical project managers make in Texas?
Clinical project managers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical project managers in Texas?
Employers hiring clinical project managers in Texas right now include Medpace, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Houston Methodist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large integrated health systems, academic medical centers, and medical device manufacturers means demand stays consistent throughout the year rather than spiking seasonally.
Which Texas cities have the most clinical project manager jobs?
Irving, Dallas, and Houston have the most clinical project manager openings in Texas. Houston dominates because of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, which houses dozens of research institutions and hospital systems running active trials. Dallas draws demand from its concentration of major health system headquarters and life sciences companies, while Austin's growing biotech and health tech sector accounts for a rising share of postings.
Are there remote clinical project manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles. About 5% of clinical project manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that much of the work involves coordinating teams, managing timelines, and reviewing documentation rather than conducting procedures on site. Protocol management, vendor oversight, and regulatory submission tasks are the parts of the role most likely to be performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a clinical project manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a clinical research coordinator or trial assistant role at one of Texas's large health systems or academic medical centers, such as those within the Texas Medical Center in Houston or UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, both of which regularly hire entry-level research staff. Moving laterally from adjacent roles in healthcare administration, regulatory affairs, or clinical data management is also common. Earning a SOCRA or ACRP certification before applying signals credibility and helps candidates stand out without years of direct project management experience.
Where can I find and apply to clinical project manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to clinical project manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find the roles that fit your experience level and target location, then apply directly to each one.
