Account Project Manager Jobs in West Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account project manager in West Virginia?
Most account project manager roles in West Virginia require a bachelor's degree in business, project management, communications, or a related field. There is no state-issued license specific to this role, but earning a PMP or CAPM credential through the Project Management Institute significantly strengthens candidacy, particularly with West Virginia's energy companies, state agencies, and federal contractors. Building experience in client-facing coordination or operational roles at regional employers provides the most direct path into the position.
How much do account project managers make in West Virginia?
Account project managers in West Virginia earn a median of about $91,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $54,070 for the lowest 10% to over $149,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account project managers in West Virginia?
Companies currently hiring account project managers in West Virginia include State Farm, Rent-A-Center, and CVS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. West Virginia's mix of healthcare systems, energy utilities, and federal defense contractors means account project manager demand is spread across several distinct industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which West Virginia cities have the most account project manager jobs?
Charleston, Morgantown, and South Charleston have the most account project manager openings in West Virginia. Charleston leads as the state capital and commercial center, driven by healthcare systems, state government contracts, and energy companies, while Morgantown's growth reflects West Virginia University Medicine and federal research activity, and Huntington draws openings from its regional healthcare and infrastructure employers.
Are there remote account project manager jobs in West Virginia?
Yes, and more than many fields, because account project management is primarily a desk, communication, and coordination role that translates well to remote settings. About 32% of account project manager openings tied to West Virginia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in the profession. Client reporting, scheduling, and budget tracking are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a account project manager in West Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an account coordinator or project coordinator role, which West Virginia healthcare systems like WVU Medicine and Cabell Huntington Hospital and federal contractors such as Leidos routinely post as junior positions. Building familiarity with project management software and earning a CAPM certification provides a concrete credential edge without requiring prior project management titles. Adjacent roles in administrative coordination, client services, or operational support at West Virginia's energy and government contracting employers commonly serve as stepping stones.
