Senior Quality Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior quality manager in Massachusetts?
Most senior quality managers in Massachusetts follow a path that begins with a technical or scientific bachelor's degree, followed by progressive quality roles in a regulated industry such as medical devices, biotech, or defense. There is no state-issued license for this role, but employers in Massachusetts consistently require credentials such as the ASQ Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer. Building deep experience with FDA regulations or ISO standards is the clearest way to reach a senior level.
How much do senior quality managers make in Massachusetts?
Senior quality managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $148,050 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $99,920 for the lowest 10% to over $227,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior quality managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring senior quality managers in Massachusetts right now include Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Raytheon, and Katalyst Healthcares & Life Sciences, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of medical device, biopharmaceutical, and aerospace firms means demand for senior quality leadership is consistent throughout the year.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most senior quality manager jobs?
Boston, Andover, and Waltham have the most senior quality manager openings in Massachusetts. Greater Boston drives the largest share of demand because of its cluster of biotech and medical device headquarters along Route 128, while Lowell and Worcester draw openings from established defense contractors and precision manufacturing companies with long-standing operations in those areas.
Are there remote senior quality manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they are rare. Senior quality manager work is heavily tied to physical production lines, regulated manufacturing floors, and in-person audits, which limits full remote opportunities. About 54% of senior quality manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those arrangements tend to apply to quality systems, documentation, or supplier oversight functions rather than direct manufacturing oversight.
How can I get hired as a senior quality manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a quality engineer or quality specialist role at a Massachusetts medical device or biotech company, where structured rotational or associate programs at employers like Boston Scientific or Thermo Fisher Scientific give candidates hands-on exposure to regulated quality systems. Pursuing an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor credential early and targeting internal promotions within a single quality organization is how most professionals in the state build toward a senior title without starting at that level.
