Senior Software Developer – Algorithms and AI for Chip Design Automation
We are looking for several experienced software engineers to join our growing team in Santa Clara, California, developing the next generation of AI-driven technology for analog and custom IC design.
Want to Solve Problems Nobody Else Has Solved?
- How would you search through more possible solutions than atoms in the universe and consistently find one of the best?
- How would you combine AI, optimization, graph algorithms, and geometry to automate work that experts have spent decades doing manually?
- How would you place and connect millions of devices while balancing power, performance, area, manufacturability, and runtime?
- How would you build software that helps design the chips powering the next generation of AI, cloud computing, communications, and automotive systems?
- How would you bring breakthrough technology from an idea on a whiteboard to a production tool used by real customers?
That's what we do.
We are looking for engineers with a consistent track record of turning bold ideas into production software used by real customers. You'll be working on some of the hardest problems in electronic design automation, developing technology that enables the next generation of AI, computing, communications, and semiconductor products.
You will have delivered commercial software, helped bring new products or major capabilities to market, and demonstrated the ability to turn ambitious ideas into production-ready solutions used by real customers.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop software for analog IC layout automation, placement, routing, and optimization.
- Apply AI techniques to solve sophisticated design automation problems.
- Drive features from concept through customer deployment.
- Collaborate with engineers, domain experts, and customers to define and deliver solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and contribute to product direction.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical rigor.
- Significant experience developing commercial software products and bringing new products or major capabilities to market.
- Strong C++ software development skills.
- Experience applying AI, machine learning, generative AI, or agentic AI techniques in production software.
- Strong background in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented software design.
- Experience with Linux development environments, testing, debugging, profiling, and source control.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
Preferred Experience
- Ideally, you have experience developing software within or integrating with OpenAccess-based design environments such as Cadence Virtuoso.
- Semiconductor design automation (EDA) software development.
- Analog, custom IC, or physical design workflows.
- OpenAccess-based environments and commercial design platforms such as Cadence Virtuoso.
- Placement, routing, layout automation, or physical implementation technologies.
- Numerical optimization, graph algorithms, and computational geometry.
- Direct customer engagement and technical leadership.
- Python or TCL.
Why This Role?
We are looking for engineers with a proven history of building products that matter. The ideal candidate has experience with AI-driven solutions and OpenAccess-based design platforms, but we will also consider exceptional candidates from other industries who have demonstrated excellence in software development, algorithms, AI, optimization, graphics, scientific computing, robotics, or related technical fields.
Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of difficult technical problems, driving innovation, and delivering technology that creates measurable impact for customers. Experience with EDA, OpenAccess, or Cadence Virtuoso is highly desirable, but not required for exceptional candidates with a strong record of technical achievement and commercial software delivery.
