Service Technician Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a service technician job in Memphis?
The strongest entry points in Memphis are manufacturing facilities along the I-240 corridor, HVAC and refrigeration contractors serving commercial properties downtown and in East Memphis, and the large distribution and logistics operations in Hickory Hill and Southeast Memphis. Candidates who hold EPA 608 certification or have hands-on experience with industrial equipment stand out. Applying directly to facilities and contractors in those corridors moves faster than general job boards.
Which companies hire service technicians in Memphis?
Memphis service technician roles are posted by Xylem, Cummins, and Fairstead and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis attracts a wide mix of employers, from global logistics and distribution centers in the Southeast Memphis industrial belt to regional HVAC and mechanical contractors serving the metro's commercial real estate market.
Are there remote service technician jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon for service technician roles since most require hands-on equipment access or on-site response. About 18% of service technician openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those openings tend to be in technical support, remote diagnostics, or field coordination roles rather than direct repair and maintenance work.
How can I get a service technician job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Memphis is through apprenticeships or helper roles with HVAC and mechanical contractors, several of which operate out of Midtown and East Memphis and hire without prior credentials. Distribution centers in the Southeast Memphis industrial zone also bring on entry-level technicians for equipment maintenance roles and train on the job. Earning an EPA 608 certification before applying gives candidates a concrete edge over other entry-level applicants in the local market.
Which industries hire the most service technicians in Memphis?
Memphis service technician roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Automotive, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis's role as a major logistics hub and its concentration of manufacturing and commercial real estate along the I-240 and I-55 corridors drives consistent demand for technicians who can maintain equipment, HVAC systems, and industrial machinery across those sectors.
