Social Worker Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a social worker in Oklahoma?
You become a social worker in Oklahoma by earning a social work degree and obtaining a license through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers. A bachelor's degree qualifies you for the Licensed Bachelor Social Worker credential, while a master's degree in social work opens the Licensed Clinical Social Worker path, which also requires supervised clinical hours and passing the ASWB clinical exam. Both tracks begin with an application to the state board.
Which companies hire social workers in Oklahoma?
Employers hiring social workers in Oklahoma right now include Mercy, OU Health, and INTEGRIS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oklahoma's large hospital networks, county human services offices, and tribal health authorities are among the most consistent sources of social worker openings across the state.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most social worker jobs?
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Oklahoma have the most social worker openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City and Tulsa drive the largest share of demand because they are home to the state's major hospital systems, DHS regional offices, and community behavioral health centers, while Norman's concentration of university-affiliated clinics and Veterans Affairs facilities adds a reliable layer of openings in that metro.
Are there remote social worker jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they're limited. Social work is largely a field-based and client-facing profession, so most Oklahoma positions require in-person contact. About 50% of social worker openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be concentrated in telehealth counseling, utilization review, and care coordination roles where client interaction can happen over video or phone.
How can I get hired as a social worker in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a social work associate or case aide position with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, which regularly hires people without extensive experience into its child welfare and adult protective services units. Large health systems like Integris Health and SSM Health also bring on new social work graduates for supervised internship-to-hire pipelines in their medical social work departments. Completing your LBSW license application early and gaining field hours through an accredited practicum gives candidates a meaningful edge over unlicensed applicants.
Where can I find and apply to social worker jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to social worker jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search for roles that match your license level, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
