Focus your search on Indianapolis's strongest hiring sectors: healthcare IT anchored by the city's major hospital networks, fintech firms concentrated downtown, and the growing SaaS companies in the Fishers and Carmel suburbs. Candidates who stand out typically combine a solid portfolio with familiarity in cloud platforms or Java and .NET stacks, which Indianapolis employers lean on heavily. Attending local meetups through IndyHackers or events at The Speak Easy co-working space can also surface openings before they hit job boards.
Which companies hire software developers in Indianapolis?

Indianapolis draws a mix of large health-tech employers, regional financial institutions, and mid-size product companies that have built engineering hubs in the city and its northern suburbs.
Are there remote software developer jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, software development is one of the more remote-friendly disciplines because the core work is desk-based and deliverable-driven. About 58% of software developer openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting both local employer flexibility and nationally distributed teams with Indianapolis-based listings. Back-end and cloud engineering roles tend to carry the highest share of fully remote options in this market.
How can I get a software developer job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is through the city's healthcare IT and insurtech employers, which routinely hire junior developers for support, QA, and integration roles that build toward full engineering positions. Coding bootcamp graduates from Eleven Fifty Academy, based in Indianapolis, have placed directly with local employers. Contract-to-hire roles at staffing firms with Indianapolis tech desks are another common door, giving candidates production experience that makes the next application much stronger.
