DevOps Engineer Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops engineer in Indiana?
Devops engineering has no state-issued license in Indiana, so the path runs through education and credentials. Most Indiana employers want a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, though candidates with associate degrees who hold certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer, or the Linux Foundation's CKA can compete. Building a portfolio of CI/CD and cloud projects, especially ones tied to Indiana's dominant life sciences or manufacturing sectors, strengthens an application considerably.
Which companies hire devops engineers in Indiana?
Employers hiring devops engineers in Indiana right now include Allegion, Resultant, and Moser Consulting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's mix of pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and financial services headquarters means devops roles here often lean toward enterprise infrastructure, compliance-driven pipelines, and hybrid cloud environments.
Which Indiana cities have the most devops engineer jobs?
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Carmel account for the most devops engineer openings in Indiana. Indianapolis drives the bulk of demand as the state's headquarters city for tech, finance, and life sciences firms, while Fort Wayne and Lafayette benefit from major manufacturing operations and Purdue University's research and commercialization ecosystem, which pulls in engineering-focused employers and startups that hire DevOps talent.
Are there remote devops engineer jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of devops engineer openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed environments. Infrastructure management, pipeline configuration, and monitoring are almost entirely screen-based tasks, making fully remote arrangements common, though roles involving on-premise data centers or regulated environments at Indiana healthcare and defense employers tend to require at least partial on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a devops engineer in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior systems administrator or cloud support role at one of Indiana's large enterprise employers, then moving into DevOps as you build automation experience. Eli Lilly, Salesforce's Indianapolis office, and Indiana University Health run rotational IT and associate engineer programs that welcome recent graduates. Earning an AWS Cloud Practitioner or earning the Google Associate Cloud Engineer certification before applying gives a clear edge. Lateral moves from network operations, QA automation, or Linux administration are common stepping stones at Indiana employers.
Where can I find and apply to devops engineer jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to devops engineer jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated in real time. Search for roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
