Software Engineer AI Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a software engineer ai in Ohio?
Ohio does not require a state-issued license to work as a software engineer ai, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skill. Most Ohio employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related engineering discipline, with a master's increasingly preferred for AI-focused roles. Building a portfolio of deployed ML projects, contributing to open-source work, and earning vendor certifications in cloud AI platforms strengthens candidacy considerably in Ohio's competitive market.
How much do software engineer AIs make in Ohio?
Software engineer AIs in Ohio earn a median of about $114,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,790 for the lowest 10% to over $168,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire software engineer ais in Ohio?
Employers hiring software engineer ais in Ohio right now include JPMorganChase, PARKWOOD, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's concentration of large financial services firms, insurance carriers, and healthcare technology companies means demand for AI engineering talent is distributed across multiple industries rather than a single sector.
Which Ohio cities have the most software engineer ai jobs?
Columbus, Ohio, and Cleveland account for the most software engineer ai openings in Ohio, driven by Columbus's dense fintech and insurance headquarters, Cleveland's growing healthtech and manufacturing innovation corridor, and Cincinnati's enterprise retail and consumer goods technology operations anchored by firms like Kroger Technology and Fifth Third Bank.
Are there remote software engineer ai jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of software engineer ai openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well AI and machine learning engineering translates to distributed work. Model development, experimentation, and code review are the functions most frequently performed fully remotely, while on-site expectations tend to apply mainly to embedded teams within regulated industries such as healthcare or finance.
How can I get hired as a software engineer ai in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a strong portfolio of end-to-end ML projects paired with a relevant degree or bootcamp credential. Ohio employers such as JPMorgan Chase and Nationwide run rotational technology programs and new-grad associate engineer cohorts that include AI and data tracks. Lateral moves from data analyst, backend engineer, or data engineer roles are common, and candidates who can show deployed model work, even from academic or personal projects, consistently earn interviews over those with credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to software engineer ai jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to software engineer ai jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings across Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and beyond. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target location, and apply directly from the listing.
