AI Software Developer Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai software developer in Ohio?
No state-issued license is required to work as an ai software developer in Ohio. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, though a master's degree is increasingly common for specialized roles. Building a portfolio of ML projects, completing recognized certifications in cloud AI services, and contributing to open-source work are the most concrete ways to strengthen your candidacy in the Ohio market.
How much do AI software developers make in Ohio?
AI software developers in Ohio earn a median of about $114,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,790 for the lowest 10% to over $168,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ai software developers in Ohio?
Employers hiring ai software developers in Ohio right now include JPMorganChase, PARKWOOD, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's concentration of financial institutions, healthcare systems, and defense contractors means hiring is spread across a wider range of industries than in purely tech-focused markets.
Which Ohio cities have the most ai software developer jobs?
Columbus, Ohio, and Cleveland account for the largest share of ai software developer openings in Ohio. Columbus dominates because of its dense cluster of financial services headquarters, insurance companies, and retail technology operations, while Cleveland and Cincinnati add volume through healthcare IT, manufacturing technology, and regional enterprise software employers.
Are there remote ai software developer jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of ai software developer openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well the work translates to distributed teams. Model development, research, and data pipeline engineering are the functions most commonly offered fully remote, while roles requiring access to proprietary on-premise infrastructure tend to stay on-site.
How can I get hired as a ai software developer in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior machine learning engineer or data analyst role that involves model experimentation alongside senior engineers. Ohio employers like Nationwide, Progressive, and large health systems such as Cleveland Clinic run rotational technology programs and new-grad associate tracks that accept candidates with strong academic projects rather than industry experience. A GitHub portfolio with documented ML projects and a cloud certification from AWS or Google Cloud gives an Ohio applicant a concrete edge over those with equivalent academic credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to ai software developer jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to ai software developer jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings across Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and the broader state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
