In this role, you will play a central part in turning AI opportunities into successful outcomes by coordinating the full lifecycle of AI projects and aligning clients with our technical experts across strategy, solution design, and execution. Embedded in day-to-day delivery, you will clarify requirements, structure work, and ensure the right specialists are engaged at each stage.
Location:
This position can be based in Houston, Texas; Knoxville, Tennessee; or Washington, DC.
What You Will Do:
- Coordinate day-to-day communication with clients, capturing requirements, clarifying questions, and providing timely updates on progress, risks, and key decisions.
- Support the project manager in planning and tracking delivery across multiple AI projects, maintaining project plans, action logs, RAID logs, and status reports.
- Partner with technical leads and team members to translate client needs into clear, actionable tasks, and monitor execution against agreed timelines and scope.
- Troubleshoot delivery issues as they arise, helping to unblock dependencies, escalate risks, and ensure corrective actions are clearly owned and tracked to completion.
- Help drive quality and consistency by supporting reviews, testing and validation activities, documentation, and adherence to delivery standards and methods.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the AI Practice by capturing lessons learned and helping to develop playbooks and reusable assets.
- Support cross-service coordination across AI strategy, AI assistants, custom models, process optimization, policy and procedure optimization, and data standardization/tagging initiatives.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of experience working in technical or engineering-focused environments supporting structured project delivery.
- Proven track record of coordinating activities across multiple teams and projects simultaneously, including stakeholder management, action tracking, and status reporting.
- Experience collaborating closely with IT, OT, data/AI, or engineering teams in enterprise or industrial settings.
- Exposure to cloud-based and data/analytics platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, data platforms, BI/analytics tools); experience in the maritime or industrial sectors is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across multiple technical projects, teams, and stakeholder groups, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Strong organizational and project support skills, including maintaining project plans, action and RAID logs, documentation repositories, and structured status reports.
- Hands-on experience with common AI/data and IT/OT technology environments, including cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), data platforms, and analytics/BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts, architectures, and workflows, and translate them into clear tasks and follow-up actions for delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence interacting with technical specialists, business stakeholders, and client counterparts.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured, detail-oriented approach to tracking issues, dependencies, and risks.
- Familiarity with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git-based repositories to support transparent and traceable project execution.
- Experience working with distributed, international teams and comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities (strongly preferred).
- Awareness of industrial or maritime operational contexts, safety, or regulatory constraints, and how they impact AI and digital delivery (nice to have).

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as an AI Consultant
Verify your CIP code before applying
Your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code determines STEM OPT eligibility. Ask your DSO to confirm your program is on the STEM Designated Degree Program List before you accept any offer, not after.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before the interview stage
AI consulting roles often sit inside boutique advisory firms that haven't hired international students before. Search the E-Verify employer search tool by company name before your first interview so you're not negotiating this after a verbal offer.
Frame your I-983 around specific AI deliverables
Generic training plans get kicked back by DSOs. Map each training goal to a concrete project output: model performance benchmarks, deployment pipelines, or client advisory reports. Your supervisor signs off, so brief them on what the plan actually requires.
Target firms with active H-1B filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter AI Consultant roles by employers who have filed H-1B LCAs, which signals they understand work authorization workflows and are less likely to rescind offers when your STEM OPT paperwork arrives.
Benchmark your offer against OFLC Wage Search data
DOL prevailing wage levels for AI Consultant roles vary significantly by metropolitan area and job zone. Pull the Level II and Level III figures from OFLC Wage Search for your work location before evaluating whether an offer is competitive and compliant.

Find AI Consultant JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does my STEM degree qualify me for the 24-month OPT extension in an AI Consultant role?
Your degree must appear on the STEM Designated Degree Program List maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. Degrees in computer science, data science, electrical engineering, statistics, and information systems are typically listed. Your DSO can confirm your specific CIP code. The AI Consultant job itself doesn't need to match a STEM classification; your degree program does.
What E-Verify requirement applies to my AI Consultant employer?
Your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify before your STEM OPT extension begins. Enrollment is separate from being a government contractor or otherwise E-Verify compliant for other reasons. Confirm active enrollment status directly through the E-Verify employer search tool before signing an offer, since disenrollment after your extension starts can jeopardize your status.
What should the I-983 training plan include for an AI Consultant position?
The I-983 must describe how the role provides practical training directly related to your STEM degree. For AI Consultant work, this means identifying specific learning objectives tied to your degree field, such as applied machine learning, data pipeline architecture, or model validation methods. Your employer's authorized signatory completes specific sections, and your DSO submits the final approved plan to SEVIS.
How does cap-gap protection work if my employer files an H-1B petition before my OPT expires?
If your OPT end date falls before October 1 and your employer files a timely H-1B cap-subject petition, cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 of that fiscal year, or until USCIS adjudicates your petition. You can continue working in your AI Consultant role during this period without interruption, provided your employer filed before your OPT expired.
Where can I find AI Consultant jobs where employers already understand STEM OPT requirements?
Migrate Mate lists AI Consultant roles filtered for employers with E-Verify enrollment and prior international hiring activity, which reduces the time you spend educating HR teams about training plan requirements and authorization timelines. Searching by role and authorization type on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have navigated STEM OPT before and are structured to support it.
