Who's Hiring

Strategy Analyst Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a strategy analyst job in Washington?
Washington's strategy analyst market is shaped by its concentration of federal agencies, defense and intelligence contractors, management consulting firms, and policy organizations in areas like Foggy Bottom, Capitol Hill, and Tysons Corner. Candidates with experience in government affairs, defense program analysis, or public-sector consulting have a clear edge. Familiarity with federal budget cycles, policy frameworks, or security clearance eligibility makes a meaningful difference with the employers that dominate hiring here.
Which companies hire strategy analysts in Washington?
Employers hiring strategy analysts in Washington right now include Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Redhorse Corporation, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Washington's hiring base skews heavily toward defense contractors, federal consulting firms, think tanks, and government-adjacent organizations rather than the technology or consumer companies that dominate strategy hiring in other major cities.
Are there remote strategy analyst jobs in Washington?
Yes, though availability depends on the employer type. Strategy analyst work is desk-based and analytical, making it more remote-friendly than operational roles, but Washington's federal and defense employers often require on-site presence or security clearances that limit full remote arrangements. About 100% of strategy analyst openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of November 2026. Hybrid arrangements are most common at consulting firms and policy organizations rather than government agencies or cleared contractors.
How can I get a strategy analyst job in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Washington is through federal agency internship programs, think tank research assistant roles, or junior consultant positions at mid-size government affairs firms. Washington employers consistently hire entry-level candidates through Presidential Management Fellow pipelines, agency honors programs, and university partnerships with Georgetown, American University, and George Washington University. A background in public policy, economics, or political science translates directly to how Washington employers frame entry-level strategy work.
