The District does not issue a state-level license specific to the financial analyst title, but many roles, particularly in investment advisory or securities, require FINRA registration such as the Series 7 or Series 65 through a sponsoring employer. Federal contractor positions often add a security clearance requirement, which employers initiate after hire.
How much do financial analysts make in District of Columbia?
Financial analysts in District of Columbia earn a median of about $105,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,620 for the lowest 10% to over $207,330 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial analysts in District of Columbia?
Employers hiring financial analysts in District of Columbia right now include ICI Services, FSA, and CSCI Consulting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Which District of Columbia cities have the most financial analyst jobs?
Washington, Washington Navy Yard, and Anacostia account for the largest share of financial analyst openings in District of Columbia. Washington D.C. itself drives the bulk of postings through federal agencies, international organizations, and the consulting firms clustered near them, while Bethesda and Arlington pull volume from defense contractors, financial services firms, and government-adjacent nonprofits based just outside the district line.

Adjacent roles such as accounting associate, financial operations coordinator, or program analyst at nonprofits or think tanks also open the door quickly.
