Strategy Intern Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy intern in Iowa?
Strategy intern roles in Iowa require no state-issued license or certification. Most employers look for students enrolled in a business, finance, economics, or public policy program at an Iowa institution such as the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, or Drake University. A strong academic record, coursework in strategy or corporate finance, and a demonstrated interest in the target industry through case competitions or project work are the most effective ways to position yourself for these roles.
Which companies hire strategy interns in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring strategy interns in Iowa include CVS Health, Transamerica, and Casey's, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Iowa's concentration of insurance headquarters, regional financial institutions, and large agribusiness firms means strategy intern openings appear across a wider range of industries than in many comparable states.
Which Iowa cities have the most strategy intern jobs?
Des Moines, Iowa, and Cedar Rapids have the most strategy intern openings in Iowa. Des Moines drives the largest share of demand as the state's financial and insurance hub, home to major corporate headquarters, while Cedar Rapids and Iowa City add openings through manufacturing, healthcare systems, and university-affiliated research and commercial operations.
Are there remote strategy intern jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, given that strategy intern work is largely analytical and presentation-based rather than on-site. About 88% of strategy intern openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader corporate flexibility for desk-based roles. Market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling tasks are the functions most often performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a strategy intern in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly through on-campus recruiting programs at Iowa State University's Ivy College of Business or the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business, where companies like Principal Financial Group and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield post structured internship cohorts for students with limited prior experience. Participating in case competitions, contributing to a student consulting club, or taking on a research assistant role for a faculty member builds the analytical portfolio that Iowa employers look for. Adjacent roles such as financial analyst assistant or operations coordinator are also common lateral entry points.
Where can I find and apply to strategy intern jobs in Iowa?
You can find and apply to strategy intern jobs in Iowa on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Iowa employers. Search the available roles, identify the ones that fit your background and target industry, and apply directly to each position through the listing.
