Tips for Your Strategy Intern Job Search
Quantify impact in your resume bullets
Strategy intern resumes live or die on numbers. Frame every bullet around a measurable outcome: a market sized in dollars, a cost reduction percentage, a recommendation adopted by leadership. Vague contributions like 'assisted with analysis' will not compete with candidates who show results.
Tailor your case study to the company
Most strategy intern applications ask for a written case or slide deck. Research the company's recent earnings calls, press releases, or investor materials, then frame your analysis around a challenge they're actually facing. Generic frameworks applied to generic scenarios rarely advance to the interview stage.
Target openings by business unit, not just company
Large companies often post strategy intern roles across corporate strategy, business development, and commercial ops simultaneously. Each team expects different outputs. Read the posting carefully to identify the team, then speak directly to that team's priorities in your cover letter and application materials.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists strategy intern openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing. Applying early gives your materials more visibility before hiring managers start scheduling first rounds.
Prepare a concise problem-solution story
Strategy intern interviews almost always include a behavioral question about a time you solved an ambiguous problem. Structure your answer around the constraints you faced, the analytical approach you chose, and what changed as a result. Answers without a clear resolution rarely land well.
Follow up with a specific observation
After your final-round interview, send a follow-up note within 24 hours that references a specific topic discussed, not just a generic thank-you. Mentioning one insight from the conversation or one idea you have since developed signals the intellectual engagement strategy teams look for in interns.
Strategy Intern Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most strategy interns?
The companies hiring the most strategy interns right now include TikTok, Center for Strategic and International Studies, and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Consulting firms, large tech companies, and healthcare systems consistently account for a significant portion of postings.
How many strategy intern jobs are remote?
About 28% of strategy intern openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though availability varies considerably by industry and role type. Competitive intelligence, market research, and data-heavy strategy functions tend to offer the highest share of remote or hybrid arrangements, while corporate development and go-to-market roles more often require in-person presence.
How do you become a strategy intern?
Build a resume that demonstrates structured problem-solving, even from coursework or extracurriculars, by framing contributions around business outcomes rather than tasks. Develop a working command of Excel-based modeling and slide-based communication. Apply to roles aligned with your academic background, prepare for case-style interviews using publicly available frameworks, and tailor each application to the specific team's strategic priorities.
Can you land a strategy intern role with little or no experience?
You can land a strategy intern role with limited formal experience by emphasizing transferable analytical work, such as a thesis, consulting club case competition, or a research project that required structuring ambiguous problems. Hiring managers at the intern level often weight intellectual curiosity and communication clarity over years of experience, so your application materials need to show how you think, not just what you have done.
What does the strategy intern interview process look like?
Strategy intern interviews typically move through a resume screen, a phone or video interview focused on behavioral questions, and one or more rounds involving a case study or take-home analytical exercise. Final rounds often include a presentation to a panel where you defend your recommendations and respond to pushback. The case component is usually the most heavily weighted stage across consulting, tech, and corporate strategy roles.
Where can I find and apply to strategy intern jobs?
You can find and apply to strategy intern jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States in one place. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, industry preference, and availability, then apply directly to each opening that fits.
