Tips for Your Strategy Intern Job Search
Tailor your resume to the case
Strategy intern resumes get screened for quantified impact and structured thinking. For each bullet, name the problem you solved, the framework you used, and the outcome you measured. Generic action verbs won't clear the first filter.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists strategy intern openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies by strategy function type
Corporate strategy, growth strategy, and operations strategy roles look similar in titles but require different outputs. Research whether the team runs internal planning cycles, M&A work, or go-to-market projects before applying, so your cover letter addresses the right deliverables.
Build a work sample before you interview
A one-page competitive teardown or market sizing exercise on an industry you want to work in gives you something concrete to reference in interviews. Strategy hiring managers ask how you structure problems, and a prepared example is far stronger than a hypothetical.
Prepare for fit questions as rigorously as cases
Strategy intern interviews at most companies include a behavioral round alongside case practice. Prepare two or three stories that demonstrate you identified a problem, built a recommendation, and influenced a decision, even from academic or extracurricular contexts.
Follow up with a synthesis note after interviews
After a strategy intern interview, send a short note that restates the key question you discussed and adds one data point or angle you didn't have time to cover. It signals the analytical follow-through that strategy teams actually hire for.
Strategy Intern Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most strategy interns?
TikTok, Siemens, and BMW are hiring the most strategy interns right now, with openings concentrated in California, Washington, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Roles at these employers tend to sit within corporate strategy, business development, or growth teams and often require strong analytical and presentation skills.
How many strategy intern jobs are remote?
About 29% of strategy intern openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote options more common in business development and market research sub-functions than in corporate strategy roles tied to executive teams. In-person requirements are more frequent at consulting firms and companies where strategy work involves close collaboration with senior leadership.
How do you become a strategy intern?
Start by building a foundation in structured analysis through coursework in economics, finance, or business strategy, and practice case-style problem-solving. Target internship applications at consulting firms, corporate strategy teams, or fast-growing companies. Prepare a resume that shows quantified results and logical reasoning, and practice walking through your thinking process clearly in interviews.
Can you land a strategy intern role with little or no experience?
Yes, but you need to substitute direct experience with demonstrated analytical thinking. A well-structured class project, a competitive analysis you built independently, or a student organization role where you made a data-backed recommendation can all serve as evidence. Strategy teams hire for how you think, so frame every experience around the problem you diagnosed and the solution you proposed.
What does the strategy intern interview process look like?
Most strategy intern interview processes include an initial screen with a recruiter or HR contact, followed by one or two rounds with strategy team members. These rounds typically combine behavioral questions about past analytical work with a case or problem-solving exercise, either live or as a take-home. Some companies add a presentation round where you walk through a market or business recommendation.
Where can I find and apply to strategy intern jobs?
