The Senior Civil Engineer (Structural) will provide specialized structural engineering support and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported facilities. The position requires advanced structural engineering expertise supporting a wide range of shore and waterfront facilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized structural engineering support for new construction, renovation, MILCON, demolition, maintenance, and facilities development projects.
- Apply advanced structural engineering concepts and principles to complex shore and waterfront facilities.
- Support projects involving piers, housing, medical and aviation facilities, bulkheads, quays, dry docks, and other Naval facilities.
- Evaluate complex structural engineering requirements and develop innovative technical solutions.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders and multidisciplinary architectural and engineering teams.
- Prepare technical analyses and recommendations and present proposed designs and study results.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional, code-compliant civil/structural facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience.
- Mastery-level knowledge of advanced structural engineering theories, concepts, principles, and practices.
- Expertise in structural engineering as applied to shore and waterfront facilities.
- In-depth knowledge of DoD and Navy guides, specifications, criteria, policies, industry codes, and structural engineering standards.
- Experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, and structural engineering design and analysis software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Knowledge of budgeting, planning, and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate work and lead teams.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional civil/structural facilities design experience required.
- Considerable hands-on facilities design experience required.
