Summary:

The Associate Engineer operates under the stewardship of a Division Lead or Director and independently executes engineering production work across drafting, modeling, and design tasks for assigned projects and teams. This role serves as a key production resource responsible for managing time-intensive design and documentation efforts while ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to company standards.

The Associate Engineer role is intended to support engineers pursuing professional licensure and provides increased exposure to project coordination, customer interaction, and technical responsibility. This position allows individuals to broaden their engineering knowledge base while gaining experience in project delivery, coordination, and collaboration across disciplines.

Primary Duties:

Technical Execution & Design Support

• Independently prepare drafting, modeling, and construction documents under the oversight of the Project Manager
• Perform engineering calculations and design development tasks appropriate to experience level
• Support advanced and delegated design efforts as assigned by the Project Manager
• Perform preliminary design analyses, including wind load design, for coordination with pre-manufactured building components under direction of the Project Manager
• Research and evaluate new or alternative products, systems, and specifications to support design solutions
• Review and evaluate applicable building codes and product specifications

Project Support & Delivery

• Serve as a primary production resource for assigned projects and teams
• Forecast and follow through on weekly project goals and expectations in coordination with the Project Manager
• Review construction documents for assigned projects to ensure compliance with company standards and quality expectations
• Track assigned work, time, and job status to support efficient workflow and scheduling
• Utilize project tracking software effectively and consistently

Customer & External Interaction

• Serve as a point of contact for Central Processing, Customer Service, and internal teams regarding day-to-day drafting and modeling needs
• Participate in customer meetings and discussions as appropriate
• Support external correspondence with customers, partners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) under the direction of the Project Manager

Quality Control, Risk & Compliance

• Apply company quality control standards to assigned work
• Identify routine technical issues, RFIs, and constructability concerns and propose solutions under the supervision of the Project Manager
• Generate revisions and addenda as directed

Team Support, Mentoring & Development

• Contribute to mentoring and training efforts related to software, customer standards, and internal processes
• Support distribution and quality control of design tasks to designers as directed by the Project Manager or Production Design Manager
• Communicate effectively with management regarding progress, workload, and development needs

General Responsibilities

Knowledge:

• Minimum Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering required, and on track for professional licensure (PE)
• Minimum 1-3 Years of Experience of equivalent work experience required
• Practical knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards
• Understanding of construction documents and design coordination
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient use of AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering systems
• Understanding of internal workflows and quality control processes

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
