Student Engagement Coordinator Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a student engagement coordinator in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers require a bachelor's degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, psychology, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred for mid-level roles. Indiana does not issue a state license for student engagement coordinators, but many positions at Indiana universities favor candidates with NASPA or ACPA professional development credentials. Gaining experience through graduate assistantships, residence life, or academic advising roles at Indiana institutions is the most direct path.
Which companies hire student engagement coordinators in Indiana?
Employers hiring student engagement coordinators in Indiana right now include Indiana University, Purdue University, and Saint Mary's College, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's large public university systems and its statewide community college network through Ivy Tech generate the most consistent and recurring openings for this role.
Which Indiana cities have the most student engagement coordinator jobs?
Bloomington, Notre Dame, and Sellersburg have the most student engagement coordinator openings in Indiana. Indianapolis anchors hiring through IUPUI, Butler University, and a growing network of workforce development nonprofits, while Bloomington and West Lafayette are driven almost entirely by the flagship campuses of Indiana University and Purdue University, which maintain large student affairs divisions year-round.
Are there remote student engagement coordinator jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Student engagement coordination is an inherently on-campus, student-facing role, so most positions require an in-person presence to run programs, advise students, and coordinate events. About 75% of student engagement coordinator openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to cover administrative or virtual outreach functions rather than core programming duties.
How can I get hired as a student engagement coordinator in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a graduate assistantship in student affairs at Indiana University, Purdue University, or Indiana State University, which provide hands-on program coordination experience while you complete a master's degree. Candidates without a graduate degree can move into the role from adjacent positions such as academic advisor, resident life coordinator, or program assistant at Ivy Tech campuses. Volunteer leadership with student organizations and a strong portfolio of event planning or outreach work strengthens applications significantly.
Where can I find and apply to student engagement coordinator jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to student engagement coordinator jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings in one place. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your qualifications.
