The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and leading the team of Superintendents across all construction projects nationwide. This role ensures the effective and efficient execution of field operations from project startups through closeout across a variety of commercial construction sectors. The General Superintendent directly manages, mentors, and supports Superintendents to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contract requirements. This position requires extensive knowledge of construction operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to travel regularly to active job sites while overseeing multiple projects simultaneously. The General Superintendent plays a critical role in driving project success, maintaining high performance standards, coordinating field operations, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

Essential Functions

• Lead, guide, and support Superintendents to ensure successful project execution

• Oversee day-to-day field operations for all construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards

• Monitor and ensure project compliance with safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project goals are met

• Conduct regular site visits to inspect work and ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards

• Ensure all zoning requirements, regulations, and specifications in architectural and engineering plans are met

• Provide leadership and guidance to the field team, helping them to resolve on-site issues effectively and efficiently

• Act as a liaison between the project team and stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and union representatives

• Maintain accurate project records, including budgets, timelines, safety documentation, and quality inspections

• Review and assess subcontractor performance and provide feedback to improve work standards and overall project success

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Core Skills and Competencies

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Advanced knowledge of construction processes, materials, and best practices

• Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans

• Extensive knowledge of construction safety regulations and procedures

• Experience with Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, MS Word, and Excel is preferred

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

• Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to quickly identify and address issues promptly

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred

• Minimum of five years of experience in a construction supervisory role, with a focus on large-scale construction projects

• Proven experience managing teams of superintendents and ensuring the successful execution of projects

• In-depth knowledge of field construction processes across multiple sectors. Focused on restaurant and fitness center buildouts

Travel and On-Site Requirement

• This position requires the General Superintendent to travel to designated job sites as needed, stay in hotel accommodations while overseeing multiple projects through completion. This extended travel and on-site stay is a condition of employment, with appropriate travel expenses and per diem allowances provided.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site

• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times

• Must comply with strict safety protocols and procedures. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when on job sites

• Exposure to all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather, as construction sites are primarily outdoors

• Frequently exposed to high levels of noise from heavy machinery and construction equipment, requiring focus and attention in a distracting environment
