Senior Level Surveyor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level surveyor job?
Employers hiring at the senior level look for candidates who have owned projects end-to-end, not just contributed to them. Demonstrating that you have managed field crews, signed and sealed deliverables, and resolved complex boundary or elevation disputes independently sets you apart. Professional licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor or equivalent, along with proficiency in current CAD and GIS platforms, is typically expected at this stage.
Which companies hire senior level surveyors?
Companies hiring senior level surveyors right now include Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, RDSolutions, and Turner & Townsend, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level is driven by large engineering and infrastructure firms, federal and state government agencies, and specialty surveying practices that need experienced professionals to lead project delivery and mentor growing technical teams.
Are there remote senior level surveyor jobs?
Yes, though most senior surveyor roles still involve significant field time. About 16% of senior level surveyor openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to center on project management, data processing, CAD production, or quality control work that can be completed off-site rather than active boundary or construction staking assignments.
What makes a surveyor role senior level?
Senior surveyor roles are defined by ownership and accountability rather than task execution. You are expected to lead field crews or project teams, make binding technical decisions on boundary calls or control networks, review and seal deliverables, and serve as the primary client contact. Mentoring junior and mid-level staff and contributing to office standards or methodology also distinguish senior roles from mid-level ones.
Which industries hire the most senior level surveyors?
Senior Level surveyor roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Retail, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring because large-scale infrastructure, land development, and public works projects consistently require licensed professionals who can take technical ownership, manage regulatory compliance, and keep complex survey programs on schedule.
