Systems Architect Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a systems architect in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma does not require a state-issued license to work as a systems architect, so the path runs through education, credentials, and experience. Most Oklahoma employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years in roles such as systems engineer or infrastructure analyst. Vendor-neutral certifications like TOGAF or cloud-platform certifications from AWS and Microsoft carry significant weight with Oklahoma's energy and defense employers and are the most reliable way to advance without a state credential.
How much do systems architects make in Oklahoma?
Systems architects in Oklahoma earn a median of about $102,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,800 for the lowest 10% to over $162,490 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire systems architects in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma systems architect roles are posted by Koch, AAON, and Goldbelt and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's concentration of energy companies, defense contractors, and large regional banks means demand is spread across both private-sector and federal civilian employer types.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most systems architect jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Norman account for the largest share of systems architect openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City dominates because it is home to the state's largest energy corporations, major federal installations including Tinker Air Force Base, and a growing technology services sector, while Tulsa's industrial and financial base adds consistent demand and Norman benefits from proximity to University of Oklahoma research partnerships.
Are there remote systems architect jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of systems architect openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fact that architecture work centers on documentation, design reviews, and stakeholder meetings that transfer well to distributed settings. Cloud architecture and enterprise integration roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions supporting on-premise industrial control systems or requiring clearance facility access are typically on-site.
How can I get hired as a systems architect in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a systems engineer or infrastructure analyst role at one of Oklahoma's large employers, then building toward architecture responsibilities over time. Tinker Air Force Base civilian hiring, Devon Energy's IT graduate programs, and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center's technology teams all bring in candidates with limited experience for structured junior positions. Earning a cloud certification or completing a TOGAF foundation course before applying gives candidates a concrete edge in Oklahoma interviews where senior architects are in short supply.
Where can I find and apply to systems architect jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to systems architect jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oklahoma openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, specialization, and preferred location within the state, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
