Systems Engineer Jobs in Tempe: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a systems engineer job in Tempe?
The strongest path into Tempe's market is targeting its aerospace, semiconductor, and defense employers, which cluster along the Price Road corridor and near Sky Harbor. Candidates with experience in systems integration, requirements engineering, or embedded systems stand out locally. Familiarity with model-based systems engineering tools is a consistent edge, and connecting with ASU's engineering networks can surface openings at smaller Tempe firms before they are widely posted.
Which companies hire systems engineers in Tempe?
Companies currently hiring systems engineers in Tempe include Viasat, RoviSys Building Technologies, and Honeywell Aerospace, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tempe's employer mix skews toward aerospace contractors, semiconductor manufacturers, and technology firms with deep ties to the ASU research ecosystem.
Are there remote systems engineer jobs in Tempe?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role, since hands-on integration and lab work typically requires on-site presence while requirements analysis and architecture work can shift remote. About 17% of systems engineer openings tied to Tempe are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at software-heavy tech firms near the Tempe Town Lake corridor.
How can I get a systems engineer job in Tempe with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tempe is targeting associate systems engineer or systems analyst roles at mid-size aerospace and defense contractors near the Price Road corridor, which hire entry-level candidates with strong fundamentals. ASU graduate programs feed directly into local employer pipelines, and co-op or internship experience with a Tempe-area firm carries significant weight. Starting in a test engineering or quality assurance role at a local manufacturer is a common lateral move into a full systems engineer position.
Which industries hire the most systems engineers in Tempe?
Most systems engineer openings in Tempe sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Telecommunications, and Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tempe's concentration of aerospace contractors, semiconductor fabs, and defense technology firms drives consistent demand for systems engineers across the product development lifecycle.
