Tax Senior Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax senior job in Richmond?
The strongest path into a tax senior role in Richmond is through the city's active public accounting firms and the corporate tax departments clustered in the West End and downtown financial district. Candidates with CPA credentials and hands-on experience in federal and state compliance stand out most. Firms serving Richmond's financial services, healthcare, and real estate sectors hire consistently, so targeting those verticals early gives you a clear edge.
Which companies hire tax seniors in Richmond?
Employers hiring tax seniors in Richmond right now include KPMG, EY, and BDO, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Richmond's mix of regional accounting firms, Fortune 500 corporate tax departments, and financial services companies creates a steady, varied pool of openings across seniority levels.
Are there remote tax senior jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though tax senior roles vary considerably by work setting. Compliance-heavy and advisory positions are more likely to offer flexibility, while roles tied to client-facing work or local audit engagements typically require in-person presence. About 38% of tax senior openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with corporate tax and tax consulting roles leading that share locally.
How can I get a tax senior job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is starting as a tax associate or staff accountant at one of the regional public accounting firms operating in the West End or downtown, then building toward a senior title through two to three years of compliance and review work. Richmond's mid-size firms are especially open to candidates who pair a CPA exam progress record with internship experience from Virginia-based programs, making those firms a practical first target.
