A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing project dashboards and aligning priorities across workstreams with your delivery leads. Mid-morning, you facilitate a release planning session with a customer's technical and business teams, capturing decisions and surfacing dependencies. After lunch, you join an architectural review to validate that the proposed solution meets the customer's strategic objectives, then pivot to a stakeholder call where you present progress updates and negotiate scope adjustments. Between meetings, you coach a newer engagement manager on risk management techniques and refine a delivery kit that your broader team can reuse.

Team Manager Jobs in Arlington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a team manager job in Arlington?
Focus your search on the defense and government contracting firms clustered along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and in Pentagon City, as well as the tech services companies that have expanded into Crystal City following the Amazon HQ2 development. Candidates who combine people management experience with familiarity in federal contracting environments, agile delivery, or cleared-facility operations tend to stand out with Arlington employers over general management backgrounds.
Which companies hire team managers in Arlington?
Companies currently hiring team managers in Arlington include Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and AECOM, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arlington's employer mix leans heavily toward large defense primes, federal IT contractors, and consulting firms with government-facing practices, alongside a growing cohort of tech and logistics companies drawn by the HQ2 effect in the National Landing area.
Are there remote team manager jobs in Arlington?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: team manager positions tied to cleared government contracts or physical operations are typically on-site, while those in corporate functions, product, or analytics tend to offer hybrid arrangements. About 50% of team manager openings tied to Arlington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the highest flexibility concentrated in tech services and consulting roles based in the National Landing and Rosslyn submarkets.
How can I get a team manager job in Arlington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Arlington is moving from a high-performing individual contributor role into a team lead position at one of the many mid-size government IT contractors or consulting firms that grow internal talent. These employers commonly promote from within and value familiarity with federal project workflows over formal management credentials. Targeting associate program manager or project coordinator roles at firms in the Ballston and Courthouse corridors positions you for an early transition into people management.
