Technical Sales Consultant Jobs in St. Louis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technical sales consultant job in St. Louis?
The strongest path into technical sales consulting in St. Louis runs through the city's manufacturing, life sciences, and enterprise technology sectors, which cluster in Clayton, the Cortex Innovation District, and along the I-270 corridor. Candidates who combine a technical background in engineering, chemistry, or IT with demonstrable client-facing experience stand out most. Attending local industry events through the St. Louis Regional Chamber and targeting mid-size regional distributors and equipment suppliers gives you a concrete edge over applicants approaching the market from the outside.
Which companies hire technical sales consultants in St. Louis?
Companies currently hiring technical sales consultants in St. Louis include Esri, Philips, and Stellar Solutions, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. St. Louis's mix of legacy industrial firms, biotech spin-offs, and enterprise software companies means openings appear across a wide range of employer sizes and sectors.
Are there remote technical sales consultant jobs in St. Louis?
Yes, though remote availability is limited because the role frequently involves in-person product demonstrations, client site visits, and hands-on technical support. About 50% of technical sales consultant openings tied to St. Louis are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with those arrangements most common in software and cloud-based solutions roles where the product can be shown virtually.
How can I get a technical sales consultant job in St. Louis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in St. Louis is a sales development or inside sales role at one of the region's industrial distributors or medical device suppliers, where you learn the technical product line before transitioning to a full consulting position. St. Louis community colleges and Washington University extension programs offer technical certificates that strengthen a candidate's product knowledge. Targeting smaller regional equipment firms in the St. Louis metro, which often train from within, gives entry-level candidates a practical alternative to competing for roles at larger national employers.
Which industries hire the most technical sales consultants in St. Louis?
Most technical sales consultant openings in St. Louis sit in Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. St. Louis's long-standing strengths in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and enterprise technology mean those sectors maintain consistent demand for consultants who can bridge deep product knowledge with client relationship management.
