Therapist Jobs in Tempe: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a therapist job in Tempe?
The strongest hiring activity in Tempe is in community mental health centers, ASU-affiliated counseling programs, outpatient behavioral health clinics, and integrated care practices near the Tempe Marketplace and South Tempe corridors. Candidates who focus their search on these employer types and tailor their applications to the populations they serve, such as college students, adolescents, or adults with co-occurring disorders, tend to move faster through the process.
Which companies hire therapists in Tempe?
Companies currently hiring therapists in Tempe include Banner Physical Therapy, tmc, and BehaviorCare Therapy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tempe's employer mix leans toward outpatient group practices, university-linked counseling services, and behavioral health organizations serving the East Valley.
Are there remote therapist jobs in Tempe?
Yes, though therapy roles are moderately remote-friendly since most positions require direct client contact, telehealth has expanded options meaningfully. About 29% of therapist openings tied to Tempe are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with telehealth sessions being the most common fully remote format. Individual and group telehealth roles tied to Tempe-based practices are the most likely to list remote flexibility.
How can I get a therapist job in Tempe with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tempe is through practicum placements or associate-level roles at community mental health agencies and ASU-affiliated training clinics, which regularly take on supervised clinicians building hours toward licensure. Group practices in the Mill Avenue and South Tempe areas also hire provisionally licensed therapists working toward their LPC or LCSW. Demonstrating experience with specific populations, such as college-age adults or adolescents, strengthens applications for Tempe's entry-level openings.
Which industries hire the most therapists in Tempe?
Tempe therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Sports & Recreation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The proximity of Arizona State University and the density of integrated health and behavioral care providers in the East Valley make Tempe a consistent source of clinical and counseling demand across those sectors.
