Therapist Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a therapist job in Los Angeles?
The fastest path into the Los Angeles market is through community mental health centers, county-contracted nonprofits, and large hospital systems concentrated in areas like Mid-Wilshire, Boyle Heights, and the South Bay. Candidates with experience in trauma-informed care, dual diagnosis, or Spanish-language services stand out significantly. Networking through local professional associations and targeting employers with LA County Department of Mental Health contracts gives you a concrete edge.
Which companies hire therapists in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring therapists in Los Angeles right now include HiredFirst, Talented Medical Solutions, and Ascend Telemedicine, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Los Angeles draws a mix of large integrated health systems, county-funded community agencies, and private group practices, particularly concentrated in Hollywood, the Wilshire Corridor, and the San Fernando Valley.
Are there remote therapist jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for roles requiring in-person clinical contact, while telehealth-focused positions are increasingly common. About 50% of therapist openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Telehealth roles tied to Los Angeles employers tend to concentrate in outpatient behavioral health and employee assistance program settings.
How can I get a therapist job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an associate-level or intern therapist role at a community mental health center or county-contracted nonprofit, where supervised hours count toward licensure. Los Angeles has a large network of agencies serving underserved populations in areas like East LA and South LA that actively hire pre-licensed candidates. Targeting practicum placements or volunteer roles at established LA clinics converts directly into paid opportunities.
