Align your degree to hospitality management
TN status requires your credential to match the role. A degree in hospitality management, tourism, or business administration strengthens your application. A general arts degree without hospitality coursework creates CBP scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target hotels with dedicated HR immigration teams
Large hotel groups and luxury resort brands process TN sponsorship in-house and understand the documentation requirements. Properties with fewer than 50 staff often lack the HR infrastructure to issue a compliant TN support letter.
Request a specialty occupation support letter early
Your employer's support letter must explicitly link the concierge duties to your degree field. Ask for this document before you resign your current position. Vague letters citing 'hospitality experience' instead of degree requirements are the leading cause of CBP denials.
Search for verified TN sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter concierge openings by employers with active TN sponsorship history. This cuts your application time by targeting only roles where the hiring team already understands the TN process and won't withdraw an offer due to visa confusion.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Look up the wage floor for your metro area using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer. DOL prevailing wage requirements apply to TN concierge roles, and accepting below the Level I threshold can create compliance issues during future renewals.
Prepare a secondary document package for Mexican nationals
Mexican citizens applying at a U.S. consulate face a stricter document review than Canadians at the border. Bring certified degree translations, your employer's EIN verification, and a signed offer letter with explicit TN language to avoid administrative processing delays.

Find Concierge JobsConcierge TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a concierge role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the job must require a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as hospitality management or hotel administration. A front-desk or guest services role marketed as 'concierge' without a degree requirement in the job description won't qualify. Your employer's support letter must connect the specific duties to your credential, not just name the job title.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for concierge positions?
TN has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as CBP approves your application at the port of entry. H-1B requires a lottery selection that most hospitality professionals don't win. For Mexican nationals, TN still requires a consular appointment but remains far faster than waiting for an H-1B cap number. The tradeoff is that TN doesn't lead directly to a green card.
Can I switch concierge employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you must obtain a new TN before starting with the new employer. Your current TN is tied to the sponsoring employer listed on your I-94. Canadian citizens can apply at a port of entry with the new offer letter and documentation. Mexican nationals must schedule a new consular appointment. Working even one day for a new employer before the new TN is approved is a status violation.
Where can I find concierge jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists concierge and hospitality roles filtered by employers with active TN sponsorship history. Most generic job boards don't indicate whether a company will support TN status, which means you can spend weeks in an application process before discovering the employer won't file. Targeting verified sponsors from the start avoids that problem entirely.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must issue a support letter on company letterhead that describes your job title, specific duties, the degree required to perform them, your start date, and your compensation. For Canadian citizens presenting at the border, USCIS expects CBP officers to review this letter alongside your credentials. Mexican nationals need the same letter for the consular appointment, plus the DS-160 form and MRV fee payment.
