- Support the analysis of labor, materials, and timelines for project estimates.
- Help track costs and flag differences between projected and actual figures.
- Learn to prepare professional reports and data entries in estimating tools.

What You Bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
- Strong interest in construction consulting, estimating, and problem-solving.
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn.

- Opportunities to build professional skills that set a foundation for your career.
- A collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Physical Activities And Requirements
In addition to the working conditions and associated physical activities and requirements above, the incumbent may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, or feel, especially in the course of investigating and assessing property damage; these requirements may include the need to lift weights of up to 50 pounds, including a ladder, and climb ladders upwards of 30 feet. The work requires close visual acuity, with or without correction, to prepare reports containing words, symbols, and numerical figures; the incumbent is required to view a computer terminal, use a keyboard, read printed documents, make detailed visual inspections, perceive color, perceive depth, and have a sufficient field of vision to carry out all inspection and related duties.
DBI Construction Consultants is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. We believe that diversity strengthens our teams and drives innovation, client satisfaction and a strong work culture.

Frame your degree against Management Consultant criteria
TN eligibility for Consulting Interns depends on your degree field matching the Management Consultant category. A business, economics, or finance degree works cleanly. An engineering or science degree needs a clear narrative connecting your coursework to the consulting work you'll be doing.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
For TN visa Management Consultant roles, prioritize employers with recent visa filings—they've already demonstrated experience sponsoring work visas and understand the sponsorship process. These employers are more likely to be comfortable supporting a TN application, since they're familiar with employment-based visa requirements and the qualification criteria for professional roles.
Clarify intern duration before the offer stage
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments, but many internships last only a few months. Confirm with your employer that they'll sponsor a TN for the full internship term rather than expecting you to start on another status and transition later.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers fast
Searching broadly wastes time on roles with no TN pathway. Migrate Mate filters consulting internship listings by verified sponsorship history so you reach employers who have already filed for TN candidates in this category.
Prepare a support letter that maps duties to TN criteria
Canadian applicants presenting at the port of entry need an employer support letter that ties each consulting duty to the Management Consultant occupation definition. Generic offer letters get challenged. Ask your employer to list specific project responsibilities, not just your job title.
Understand how Mexican TN applicants must file differently
Mexican citizens cannot self-petition at the border the way Canadians can. You must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and obtain a TN visa stamp before entering. Build your timeline around consulate appointment availability, which varies by location and demand.

Find Consulting Intern JobsConsulting Intern TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Consulting Intern role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, if the role falls under the Management Consultant occupation as defined by USMCA. The internship must involve professional-level consulting work tied to a qualifying degree, not general administrative or support tasks. Employers sometimes mislabel roles as consulting when the actual duties don't meet the USMCA definition, so reviewing the job description carefully before applying matters.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for a Consulting Intern role?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no months-long USCIS processing wait. Canadian applicants can receive TN status on the same day at a port of entry. H-1B requires an April lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection chance and a start date no earlier than October 1. For a short-term internship, TN is far more practical.
Where can I find Consulting Intern jobs with verified TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces consulting internship roles where employers have recent visa filings and experience with work visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions where the hiring team has no sponsorship background. Standard job boards list roles without any indication of visa sponsorship capability.
Can my consulting internship sponsor TN status if it's only three months long?
Yes. TN status can be issued for the exact duration of the internship, even if it's shorter than a year. The employer's support letter and the I-94 will reflect the internship end date. Some companies request a full three-year TN regardless of internship length to allow flexibility, but a shorter-term TN is entirely valid.
What happens to my TN status if my consulting internship converts to a full-time offer?
Your existing TN covers only the original role and employer terms. A full-time conversion requires either amending the TN through USCIS or, for Canadians, returning to a port of entry to reapply with updated employer documentation reflecting the new position, title, and duration. Start that process before your current TN expires to avoid a gap in work authorization.
