Map your degree to management consulting
TN visa status for Customer Program Managers is approved under the Management Consultant category, which requires a degree in a relevant field. A business, engineering, or operations management degree creates a clear credential trail CBP officers expect to see.
Request a USMCA-specific offer letter
Ask your employer to draft an offer letter that explicitly cites the USMCA Management Consultant category, your specific duties, and the project-based nature of the work. Generic offer letters are a common reason CBP requests additional documentation at the border.
Target employers with cross-functional program structures
Companies running dedicated customer success or implementation programs are more familiar with TN sponsorship requirements for this role. Enterprise software, consulting, and managed services firms routinely hire Customer Program Managers and expect to provide USMCA documentation.
Search for TN-ready roles using Migrate Mate
Filter by employers who have active TN visa sponsorship history before applying cold. Migrate Mate surfaces Customer Program Manager roles where companies already understand USMCA requirements, saving you the effort of educating every recruiter from scratch.
Prepare a consulting engagement summary for CBP
CBP officers assess whether your day-to-day duties match the Management Consultant definition. Bring a one-page summary describing your customer program scope, deliverables, and stakeholders. This document isn't required by regulation but resolves officer questions immediately.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before crossing
Some employers complete the TN offer letter process but haven't enrolled in E-Verify, which delays your I-9 completion after you start. Verify enrollment status directly with HR before your border or consulate appointment to avoid a gap between admission and your first day.
Customer Program Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Customer Program Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Customer Program Manager positions typically qualify under the USMCA's Management Consultant category, provided your duties involve advisory or project-based work rather than line management of internal staff. CBP assesses the substance of your responsibilities, not just the job title, so your offer letter and role description need to reflect consulting-style deliverables clearly.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no petition-based filing for Canadian citizens crossing at the border. H-1B requires employer sponsorship, a USCIS petition, and lottery selection before any work authorization begins. For Customer Program Manager roles that qualify under the Management Consultant category, TN is faster and more predictable than the H-1B process for most candidates.
What documents should I bring to a TN visa appointment as a Customer Program Manager?
Bring your valid Canadian or Mexican passport, an offer letter that cites the USMCA Management Consultant category and describes your specific duties, proof of your qualifying degree, and any supporting materials that document the program scope you'll manage. Mexican citizens present these at a U.S. consulate; Canadian citizens present them directly to CBP at a port of entry.
Where can I find Customer Program Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can search Customer Program Manager openings filtered by employers who already understand USMCA requirements, which reduces the back-and-forth with recruiters who aren't familiar with TN status.
Can I switch employers on TN status if I get a better Customer Program Manager offer?
Yes, but your TN authorization is tied to your current employer. You need a new TN approval before starting with the new company. Canadian citizens can obtain this by presenting new offer documentation at a port of entry. Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate. There's no formal grace period for employer changes, so timing the transition carefully matters.
