Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have a demonstrated design, construction, equipment operation and maintenance experience in the area of complex mission critical facilities. You will have knowledge of large-scale data centers, multi-tenant facilities, and mechanical infrastructure systems. You will be involved in the development of complex mechanical systems ranging from incoming utility design down to the rack. Project involvement starts at due diligence, progresses through construction and commissioning, and develops into sustaining support for the internal operations team. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate data center designs based on program requirements, redundancy levels, availability goals, and risk factors, identifying potential single points of failure.
Perform compliance reviews and due diligence of data center physical infrastructure for the deployment of Google services and critical infrastructure.
Identify and resolve issues raised by the cross functional teams and various external stakeholders.
Reinforce standards across all regions to ensure consistency and successful product delivery per Google’s standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience with mission critical facilities, with a focus on market-available data center multi-tenant facilities.
3 years of experience performing mechanical system analysis and using common engineering software packages.
3 years of experience in the bidding, design, operation, and commissioning of mechanical distribution systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience working with cross-functional teams to demonstrate an understanding of interrelated issues, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, electrical, and architectural aspects.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time as needed.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $121000 - $175000 (USD)
Bonus Target: 15%
