Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Daycare
Match your credentials to qualifying TN categories
Daycare positions only qualify for TN status when tied to a recognized USMCA category like Social Worker or Psychologist. Confirm your degree aligns with the specific category before applying, since a general early childhood education credential may not satisfy the specialty occupation requirement.
Request a detailed offer letter from employers
Your TN petition lives or dies on the job offer letter. Ask employers to specify that the role requires a qualifying degree in a recognized TN field, your duties, your title, and your intended employment period. Vague letters are the leading cause of TN denials at the port of entry.
Target childcare centers operated by healthcare systems
Hospital networks and healthcare-affiliated childcare programs are more experienced with TN sponsorship than independent daycare operators. These employers typically have HR teams familiar with USCIS requirements and are less likely to withdraw an offer over the documentation process.
Use Migrate Mate to find daycare employers with recent visa filings
Sorting by employer visa sponsorship experience helps you focus on organizations prepared to support your application. Migrate Mate surfaces childcare and social services employers with recent visa filings, indicating they're experienced with work visa sponsorship processes. This helps you identify companies more likely to be familiar with supporting visa candidates, so you can skip those without sponsorship infrastructure in place.
Prepare for Canadian border processing with a complete package
Canadian citizens can obtain TN status at a port of entry without a prior visa appointment. Bring your signed offer letter, degree transcripts, proof of Canadian citizenship, and any professional licensure. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, so missing a document can mean a same-day refusal.
Mexican citizens should apply early to account for consulate timelines
Unlike Canadians, Mexican TN applicants must schedule a consular interview and obtain a visa stamp before entering the U.S. to work. Consulate wait times vary by location and season, so begin the scheduling process as soon as your employer has a certified offer letter ready.

Find Daycare JobsDaycare TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Do daycare jobs actually qualify for TN visa status?
Most daycare roles do not automatically qualify. TN status requires the position to fall under a specific USMCA professional category, such as Social Worker or Psychologist, and to require a qualifying degree in that field. A general childcare or preschool teaching role without a degree requirement in a listed category will not qualify. You and your employer need to structure the job description around a recognized TN occupation before filing.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for daycare professionals?
TN has meaningful advantages for this field. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and Canadian applicants can receive approval at the border on the same day. H-1B requires employer sponsorship months in advance, a lottery selection, and USCIS petition approval before you can start work. For daycare roles that qualify under a TN category, the TN route is faster and more predictable than waiting for H-1B selection.
How do I find daycare employers willing to sponsor a TN visa?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters job listings by employers with recent visa filings, so you can identify childcare organizations, early learning centers, and social services employers experienced with work visa sponsorship. Approaching employers who already understand the visa sponsorship process significantly reduces the risk of an offer falling through over paperwork concerns.
What documents does a daycare employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter that includes your job title, a description of duties tied to the qualifying TN category, confirmation that the role requires a degree in that field, your anticipated start date, and the employment period. For Canadian applicants processed at the border, this letter is the core document CBP reviews. Your employer does not file a petition with USCIS for TN status, but the letter must be thorough enough to stand on its own.
Can I change daycare employers after receiving TN status?
Yes, but you cannot start working for a new employer using your existing TN authorization. Each TN is employer-specific. Canadian citizens can present new documentation at a port of entry to obtain a new TN for the incoming employer. Mexican citizens need to return to a U.S. consulate for a new visa stamp. Plan the transition timeline with both employers so there is no gap in your authorized status.
