Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Dermatologist
Verify your credentials meet TN standards
TN approval requires a medical degree plus documented dermatology specialization. Canadian and Mexican dermatologists should confirm their residency completion certificates and board certification letters are translated and notarized before approaching any employer.
Target academic medical centers and health systems
Large hospital systems and university-affiliated dermatology departments process TN petitions routinely and have in-house legal teams familiar with the USMCA Medical/Allied Professionals category. Smaller private practices often lack the infrastructure to initiate the process.
Search TN-sponsored dermatology roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter dermatologist openings by employers with active TN sponsorship history. This saves you from cold-applying to practices that will decline once they learn you need visa support.
Request an employer support letter early
Your employer's support letter must specify your dermatology duties, confirm you hold a qualifying medical degree, and state that your role meets the specialty occupation standard. Getting this drafted correctly before your CBP or consular appointment prevents adjudication delays.
Understand the Mexican national consular pathway
Mexican dermatologists cannot use port-of-entry processing available to Canadians. You'll petition through a U.S. consulate, which adds a scheduling wait of several weeks. Factor this into your start-date negotiation with the employer.
Use the OFLC Wage Search to anchor salary discussions
Pull the prevailing wage for your SOC code and geographic area from the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer. TN status doesn't require a formal LCA, but confirming your offered salary clears the prevailing wage floor removes a common employer objection.

Find Dermatologist JobsDermatologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a dermatologist qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Dermatologists qualify under the USMCA's Medical/Allied Professionals category, which covers physicians in recognized specialties. You need a medical degree from an accredited institution in Canada or Mexico, plus documentation of your dermatology specialization such as residency completion or board certification. Your employer provides a support letter confirming your role aligns with that credential.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for dermatologists?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadian nationals, so you're not subject to the randomized H-1B selection process that leaves many physicians without status for a full year. TN is renewable indefinitely in three-year increments as long as you maintain qualifying employment. The trade-off is that TN doesn't lead directly to permanent residence, while H-1B is dual-intent, meaning it's compatible with a green card application.
Can Mexican dermatologists use the same TN process as Canadians?
No. Canadian dermatologists can apply at a U.S. port of entry on the day of travel, with CBP adjudicating the petition on site. Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate abroad, which requires scheduling a visa interview and waiting for approval before traveling. Processing timelines at Mexican consulates vary, so you should apply well before your intended start date.
What documents does a dermatologist need for a TN petition?
You'll need your medical degree, proof of dermatology specialization such as residency completion letters or board certificates, a detailed employer support letter describing your duties and confirming your specialty, and your passport. If your documents are in Spanish or French, certified English translations are required. Canadian applicants present these at the port of entry; Mexican nationals submit them to the consulate as part of the visa application package.
Where can I find dermatologist jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search dermatologist openings specifically filtered for TN visa sponsorship, so you're only seeing employers who are prepared to support the petition. This is more efficient than applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a practice won't sponsor international physicians. Targeting employers already familiar with TN filings also shortens the time between offer and start date.
