Participation in focused quality or research projects is encouraged. Active involvement in APP student teaching through affiliated programs is one of the required core values.
Multiple opportunities exist within our program for specialty interests. We participate in multi-specialty care teams, including Neuromuscular, Headache, Movement Disorder, Neuro-Oncology, Epilepsy, Concussion, and a Ketogenic Diet program.
Our clinical staff includes 24 physicians, 5 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Dietitians, an Epilepsy Nurse Specialty Care Coordinator, nurses, and medical assistants. The Neurology Division covers five satellite clinics (i.e., Arrowhead, Southwest Valley, Mercy Gilbert, Scottsdale, Northwest Valley), as well as the inpatient neurology services on main campus at Phoenix Children’s. In 2024, we will expand inpatient coverage to Phoenix Children’s Arrowhead to meet the needs of our growing population in the West Valley and to Phoenix Children’s Mercy Gilbert Hospital to meet the needs of our growing population in the East Valley.

Secure your multistate NP licensure early
U.S. employers won't extend a TN visa offer without confirmed state licensure. If your target state participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, one license covers multiple states, which expands your employer pool significantly.
Collect degree-to-role documentation before applying
CBP officers assess whether your graduate nursing degree directly supports the PNP role. Gather your transcripts, credential evaluation, and NP certification from ANCC or PNCB before you contact a single employer.
Target pediatric health systems with active TN history
Children's hospitals and academic medical centers file TN petitions more routinely than community clinics. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers with active TN visa sponsorship history in pediatric and nursing categories.
Ask recruiters explicitly about TN letter preparation
Many employers know TN visas but haven't written a support letter for a nurse practitioner role. Request that HR confirm the offer letter will specify your NP specialty, your graduate degree, and the USMCA professional category.
Understand how Mexican TN caps affect your timeline
Mexican nationals are subject to a 5,500 annual TN cap, unlike Canadians who enter at the border without a visa stamp. Apply as early in the fiscal year as possible to avoid allocation shortfalls that can delay your start date.
Prepare for CBP specialty occupation questions at the border
Canadian applicants present their TN packet directly to a CBP officer. Bring your employment offer letter, NP certification, graduate transcripts, and state license. Officers may ask how pediatric NP duties differ from registered nursing.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners qualify under the USMCA TN category for Nurses, provided you hold a graduate-level nursing degree and an active U.S. state NP license for the state where you'll practice. CBP expects the job duties listed in your offer letter to reflect advanced practice nursing, not general registered nursing work.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners?
TN sponsorship is faster and more predictable for this role. H-1B visa requires lottery selection, which isn't guaranteed, and filing typically takes months before a start date. Canadian TN applicants can be approved at a port of entry the same day. Mexican nationals go through consular processing, which still skips the lottery entirely and avoids the H-1B cap backlog.
Where can I find Pediatric Nurse Practitioner jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can filter by role and visa type so you're only seeing employers who already understand the TN process, rather than spending time with recruiters who have never filed for a nurse practitioner before.
Can a Canadian PNP switch employers on a TN visa mid-contract?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific. Your current TN authorization covers only your existing employer's petition. When you accept a new offer, the new employer must prepare a fresh TN support letter and you'll need to return to a port of entry or consulate to obtain new TN status before starting work with them.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN sponsorship as a PNP?
Your employer must provide a formal offer letter confirming your job title as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, your anticipated start date, your compensation structure, and a statement that your graduate nursing degree and NP certification qualify you under USMCA. The employer doesn't file with USCIS for Canadian applicants, but the letter must be detailed enough to satisfy a CBP officer at the border.
