Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Clinical Assistant
Verify your credentials meet TN requirements
Clinical Assistant approval depends on showing a direct tie between your education and the role. Gather degree transcripts, professional licenses, and any credential evaluations before you apply, since CBP officers assess qualification fit on the spot.
Target health systems experienced with visa sponsorship
Large hospital networks and multi-site outpatient groups are more likely to be experienced with visa sponsorship than small private practices. Ask HR during early conversations whether they've sponsored work visa candidates before, not after you have an offer in hand. For TN visas, the employer prepares a support letter outlining your qualifications and role. Canadians present this letter at the U.S. port of entry; Mexicans submit it with their application at a U.S. consulate. The entire process is handled between you and the employer—no government filing or certification is required.
Search TN-sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Clinical Assistant openings by employers with recent visa filings, so you're not spending time on roles where sponsorship experience is an afterthought or an unknown for the hiring team.
Clarify the job offer letter scope early
Your TN support letter must state your specific duties, the professional capacity you'll work in, and your employment period. Ask the employer to draft this before your border or consulate appointment, not after you've already accepted.
Understand the Mexican consular appointment timeline
Mexican nationals can't use the expedited CBP port-of-entry process available to Canadians. Consular appointment wait times vary by location, so factor that window into your start date negotiation with the employer.
Prepare for renewal before your status expires
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with no cap on renewals. File your renewal petition or border reentry early enough that a processing delay doesn't interrupt your employment continuity at the facility.
Clinical Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Clinical Assistant role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Clinical Assistant positions can qualify under the TN visa category, but the classification depends on how the role is defined and what professional capacity you're working in. The duties must align with a recognized USMCA professional category. Roles with clearly defined clinical support functions and a credential requirement are stronger candidates than broad generalist titles.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Clinical Assistant jobs?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no lengthy USCIS petition queue. H-1B visa selection is random and capped at 85,000 per fiscal year. For Canadian Clinical Assistants, CBP can approve TN status at the border the same day. That speed and certainty makes TN a far more reliable path for this role type than H-1B.
Where can I find Clinical Assistant jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles where employers are experienced with visa sponsorship. Rather than guessing whether a posting includes visa support, you can filter directly for Clinical Assistant openings tied to employers with recent visa filings, which cuts out significant wasted effort in your search.
What documents does a Canadian Clinical Assistant need at the border for TN approval?
You'll need a detailed employer support letter outlining your job duties, professional capacity, and employment period; proof of your educational credentials such as degree transcripts or diplomas; and your professional license if the role requires one. CBP officers make the determination at the port of entry, so completeness of your documentation packet directly affects same-day approval.
Can a Mexican Clinical Assistant apply for TN status the same way as a Canadian?
No. Mexican nationals must apply for TN status through a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. The process requires scheduling a consular appointment, which adds time to the overall timeline. USCIS processes TN petitions filed by mail for Mexicans as an alternative to the consular route, though both paths require the same core documentation and employer support.
