Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Director, Product Management
Frame your credentials around management consulting
TN classification for this role depends on fitting the Management Consultant category. Structure your resume and credential documents to emphasize strategic advisory functions, not just team leadership or execution, so the classification holds up under employer and CBP review.
Target companies with recent visa filing experience
Employers with recent visa filings for H-1B, E-3, or green card sponsorship already understand nonimmigrant work authorization. Filtering for these companies cuts out the education cycle and speeds up the hiring timeline significantly. Since TN visas require only an employer support letter presented at the port of entry (no government filing or approval process), companies experienced with visa sponsorship are more likely to move quickly on TN candidates.
Clarify TN scope before your offer letter is drafted
The offer letter is the foundation of your TN application. Before it's finalized, confirm the described duties align with Management Consultant criteria. Vague language like 'leads product teams' without consulting context is the most common reason CBP pushes back at the port of entry.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already sponsoring TN roles
Searching broadly for product director roles wastes time on employers unfamiliar with visa sponsorship processes. Migrate Mate surfaces companies with recent visa filings so you're applying where work authorization sponsorship is already understood and operationally possible.
Prepare for consular processing if you hold Mexican citizenship
Mexican nationals cannot use the Canadian port-of-entry shortcut and must schedule a consular appointment. The annual TN allocation for Mexican citizens is capped, so apply early in the fiscal year and confirm your employer is prepared for the longer consular timeline.
Align your TN renewal cycle with product roadmap timelines
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with no cap on renewals. Build renewal filings into your employment planning so visa gaps don't interrupt annual planning cycles or leadership transitions your employer depends on you for.

Find Director, Product Management JobsDirector, Product Management TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Director, Product Management role qualify for TN visa status?
It can, but the classification depends on how the role is framed. TN status doesn't have a dedicated product management category, so most approvals rely on the Management Consultant classification. The position must emphasize strategic advisory and analytical functions, not purely operational team management. An offer letter that clearly describes consulting-style responsibilities is essential for CBP approval.
How does TN compare to H-1B for a Director, Product Management position?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as the application is approved rather than waiting for a selection cycle. H-1B approval for a product director role is also competitive because the specialty occupation threshold is scrutinized. TN's trade-off is that it requires ongoing employer sponsorship and doesn't carry the same dual-intent protections as H-1B.
Where can I find Director, Product Management jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, which means you'll spend significant time screening out employers who can't or won't sponsor work visas. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you identify Director, Product Management openings at companies with recent visa filings and experience sponsoring work visas without manually vetting each employer.
What documents do I need to apply for TN status as a Director, Product Management candidate?
You'll need a detailed offer letter describing your consulting-focused duties, your Canadian or Mexican passport, and proof of your bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the role such as business, engineering, or computer science. If any credentials were issued outside North America, a credential evaluation may strengthen your file. Canadian citizens can present these at a U.S. port of entry without a prior visa stamp.
Can a Director, Product Management TN holder change employers mid-year?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to the original petitioning employer. If you accept a new role, your new employer must file a fresh TN application before you begin work. There is no portability provision equivalent to H-1B's AC21, so timing the transition carefully around approval is critical to maintaining continuous work authorization. Migrate Mate can help you identify employers already familiar with this process.
