Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Project Manager
Align your credentials to Management Consultant
TN visas don't list Project Manager as a named category, so your offer letter and credentials must explicitly connect your role to Management Consultant duties. A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field strengthens your case at the port of entry.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies with recent visa filings for management or consulting roles. These employers are experienced with visa sponsorship and are far less likely to withdraw an offer over work authorization concerns. For TN visas, Canadian applicants can present the employer's support letter directly at a U.S. port of entry, while Mexican applicants apply through a U.S. consulate—both processes are straightforward for employers familiar with sponsoring work visa candidates.
Request a detailed offer letter before crossing the border
Canadian citizens can get TN status at the U.S. border, but CBP officers scrutinize the offer letter closely. It must describe specific project management duties, confirm the position is temporary, and state your degree field. Generic job descriptions get rejected.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers who sponsor TN visas
Filtering job postings by visa sponsorship willingness saves weeks of outreach. Migrate Mate surfaces Project Manager roles at companies already open to TN sponsorship, so you spend time on employers likely to move forward rather than explaining the visa from scratch.
Prepare a credentials package for Mexican applicants
Mexican citizens must schedule a consular interview and cannot use the border entry method available to Canadians. Bring your degree, transcripts, employer support letter, and proof of professional experience. Gaps in documentation are the most common reason consular officers defer decisions.
Clarify project scope to establish TN-compliant temporariness
TN status requires temporary intent. If your offer letter describes an ongoing, indefinite management role with no project end date, CBP or consular officers may question eligibility. Frame the role around defined project deliverables or contract periods to satisfy the temporariness requirement.
Project Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Project Manager qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Project Manager is not listed by name in the USMCA TN occupations schedule, but the role can qualify under the Management Consultant category if the duties involve advising on organizational systems, directing cross-functional project teams, and applying specialized business or technical expertise. Your offer letter must make that connection explicit, and your degree should align with the field the projects cover.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Project Manager roles?
TN is available without a lottery, has no annual cap for Canadian citizens, and can be obtained at the U.S. border in a single day for Canadians. H-1B visa requires a lottery entry in March, a multi-month USCIS review, and employer-paid filing fees that can run into thousands of dollars. For Project Managers who qualify under the Management Consultant category, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter on company letterhead that describes your specific project management duties, confirms the position is temporary in nature, states your start date and work location, and lists your educational qualifications. Unlike H-1B, TN does not require the employer to file a petition with USCIS in advance, but the letter must be thorough enough to satisfy CBP or a consular officer at the time of application.
Where can I find Project Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, which means you'll spend significant time reaching out to employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Project Manager roles at companies open to TN visa sponsorship, so you can focus your applications where they're most likely to lead to an offer and a successful TN filing.
Can Mexican citizens get TN status for Project Manager roles the same way Canadians can?
No. Canadian citizens can present their documents at a U.S. port of entry and receive TN status the same day. Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate, attend an interview, and are subject to an annual numerical limit on TN visas. Processing time after the interview can range from a few days to several weeks depending on the consulate and administrative workload.
