Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Product Architect
Align your credentials to Engineer classification
TN visas for Product Architects file under the Engineer category, so your degree must be in engineering, computer science, or a directly related field. A business or management degree alone won't clear CBP review, even with years of architecture experience.
Build a technical duties letter before outreach
Ask your target employer to frame the role around systems design, API architecture, and technical decision-making, not product strategy or team leadership. CBP scrutinizes job titles that blend engineering and management; the duties letter is where that distinction gets decided.
Filter employers by recent visa filing activity
Target companies experienced with visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with recent visa filings, so you're not spending interview cycles educating HR teams about work visa processes they've already navigated successfully.
Clarify Canadian vs. Mexican processing before accepting an offer
Canadian citizens get TN status at the port of entry the day they travel, with no advance USCIS filing required. Mexican citizens need a consular appointment and must plan for processing lead time. Confirm which pathway applies before you set a start date with your employer.
Prepare for CBP questions on specialty occupation scope
At the port of entry, Canadian applicants should be ready to explain how their role requires a specific engineering discipline, not just technical fluency. Officers have denied Product Architect entries where the title sounded managerial. Bring your degree credential and a clear architecture-focused offer letter.
Request a three-year TN petition for longer project runway
Employers can file Form I-129 with USCIS for a three-year TN status rather than relying on a shorter port-of-entry admission. This matters for Product Architects on multi-year platform builds where mid-project status gaps would disrupt delivery timelines.

Find Product Architect JobsProduct Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Architect role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, if the role is classified under the Engineer category and your duties center on technical architecture, systems design, or infrastructure planning. The title itself doesn't guarantee approval. CBP will assess whether the job requires a specific engineering discipline and whether your degree matches. Roles that blend architecture with general product management carry more scrutiny.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Product Architect roles?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start the moment your employer issues an offer letter and CBP approves your entry. H-1B requires surviving a randomized lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate and waiting until October 1 of the fiscal year. For Canadian Product Architects, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
What documentation does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs to issue a support letter on company letterhead that describes your specific architectural duties, confirms the role requires an engineering degree, states your start date and employment terms, and confirms the position is not temporary in a way that undermines TN intent. The letter functions as the primary evidence CBP reviews at the port of entry.
Where can I find Product Architect jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN, H-1B, and other work visa job searches and shows roles from employers with active sponsorship history. This saves you from applying to postings where the recruiter has never heard of TN and can't get internal approval to sponsor. Filtering by visa type from the start narrows your search to realistic opportunities.
Can I switch employers as a Product Architect on TN status?
Yes, but your TN status is employer-specific. When you move to a new company, that employer must obtain new TN authorization before you begin working. Canadian citizens can do this at the port of entry with a new offer letter; Mexican citizens need a new consular appointment. You can't work for the new employer during the gap period.
