Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Assistant Project Manager
Match your degree to the job title
TN visa classification lives or dies on the degree-to-role connection. An Assistant Project Manager role filed under Engineer requires your degree in engineering or a directly related field, not just general business or management.
Request a support letter before signing
Ask the employer for a detailed TN support letter before you accept an offer. The letter must specify your professional category, duties, and that you hold a qualifying degree. Vague letters are the leading cause of border denials.
Target employers with construction or infrastructure project pipelines
Firms managing active federal or municipal infrastructure contracts file TN petitions routinely. Searching by project type rather than job board keyword surfaces employers already comfortable with the sponsorship process for this role.
Clarify which TN category your duties support
Assistant Project Managers can qualify under Engineer or Management Consultant depending on actual day-to-day duties. Confirm with your employer which category aligns with the role before filing, since misclassification triggers a CBP denial.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers who sponsor TN visas
Filter your search to employers with recent visa filings and sponsorship experience. Migrate Mate surfaces Assistant Project Manager roles where companies have demonstrated familiarity with visa sponsorship processes, so you're not educating an employer from scratch.
Prepare for Mexican nationals' consular appointment timeline
Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate, not at the border. Schedule your appointment as early as possible, since consular wait times can run several weeks and affect your start date with the employer.
Assistant Project Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Assistant Project Manager role qualify for the TN visa?
Yes, but the classification depends on how the position is defined. Roles with core engineering duties qualify under the Engineer category. Roles focused on coordinating resources, schedules, and stakeholders may qualify under Management Consultant. Your employer's support letter must accurately describe which applies to your specific duties, and your degree must align with that category.
How does TN visa sponsorship for this role compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start as soon as your employer issues a qualifying support letter and CBP approves you at the border. H-1B visa requires surviving a random lottery with a several-month wait. For Assistant Project Managers with a qualifying degree, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B for both the applicant and the employer.
What documents do I need to bring to the border as a Canadian applicant?
You need your Canadian passport, the employer's TN support letter, your academic credentials confirming a qualifying degree, and the job offer outlining your role and compensation. CBP officers may also ask for evidence that your duties align with the TN category stated in the letter, so carry transcripts and a degree certificate alongside the letter.
Where can I find Assistant Project Manager jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Assistant Project Manager roles where employers are open to TN visa sponsorship, filtering out positions where you'd need to educate a hiring team about the process from the beginning. Starting with employers who already understand TN significantly reduces the time between offer and first day.
Can my employer file the TN visa for me before I start, or do I need to self-petition?
For Canadian citizens, the TN is processed at a U.S. port of entry and does not require a prior USCIS petition. Your employer provides the support letter, but you present it yourself at the border. Mexican citizens apply through a U.S. consulate with employer documentation. Neither pathway requires the employer to file a petition independently through USCIS before you arrive.
