Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Manager - Consulting
Frame your CV around advisory deliverables
CBP officers approve Management Consultant TN petitions based on project scope, not job titles. Restructure your CV to lead with client engagements, recommendations delivered, and measurable outcomes rather than internal team responsibilities.
Verify your degree field matches consulting
TN Management Consultant status requires a baccalaureate or higher in a business, finance, or related field. A degree in engineering or science alone can raise questions unless your consulting work is clearly in that technical domain.
Target firms with recent visa sponsorship experience
Consulting firms that have hired Canadian or Mexican professionals before are often experienced with work visa sponsorship. Ask recruiters directly whether the firm has supported visa sponsorship for manager-consultant roles, and confirm they're willing to work with you on the TN process—which involves an employer support letter and presentation at the U.S. port of entry (for Canadians) or U.S. consulate application (for Mexicans).
Get your employer letter drafted before the offer stage
The TN support letter must describe the consulting engagement in specific terms: client-facing advisory duties, defined project timelines, and your professional credentials. A vague letter is the most common reason CBP denies Management Consultant TN applications at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to identify sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to find consulting employers actively hiring for TN-eligible roles. Filter by Management Consultant positions to surface firms already familiar with the USMCA classification, reducing the time you spend educating recruiters on the visa category.
Understand how Mexican nationals file differently
If you're a Mexican citizen, you'll file at a U.S. consulate rather than a port of entry, and the process involves an I-129 petition from your employer. Build at least six to eight weeks into your start date timeline to account for consular scheduling.

Find Manager - Consulting JobsManager - Consulting TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Manager - Consulting qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Management Consultant is an explicitly listed USMCA TN category. The role must involve providing consulting advice to clients rather than managing internal staff as a primary function. If your title is Manager but the work is internal operations management with no advisory client deliverables, CBP may scrutinize whether the TN Management Consultant category genuinely applies.
How does TN compare to H-1B for consulting managers?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can often be obtained at the port of entry in a single day. H-1B requires a cap slot, a multi-month filing window, and an employer petition before you can start work. For Canadian consulting professionals with a qualifying degree and a firm job offer, TN is substantially faster to obtain than H-1B.
What documents do I need for a Manager - Consulting TN application?
You'll need a detailed employer support letter describing your consulting duties and project scope, proof of your baccalaureate degree in a relevant field, your Canadian or Mexican passport, and the completed TN application or I-129 petition depending on your nationality. The employer letter carries the most weight. CBP or the consular officer will use it to verify the role meets the Management Consultant TN definition.
Where can I find consulting employers who sponsor TN visas?
Migrate Mate lists consulting firms actively hiring for TN-eligible Management Consultant roles, so you're not guessing which employers understand the USMCA sponsorship process. Filtering by TN visa type helps you focus on employers who have already navigated the Management Consultant category, which speeds up the offer and filing process considerably.
Can I switch consulting employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization tied to the new employer before you start working for them. Canadians can apply at the port of entry with the new employer's support letter. Mexican nationals require a new I-129 petition and consular appointment. There is no portability provision under TN the way AC21 applies to H-1B holders, so timing the transition carefully with your new employer matters.
