Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Global Project Manager
Frame your credentials around USMCA categories
TN visa eligibility for project management roles hinges on fitting the Management Consultant category. Document how your role involves advisory, strategic, or cross-functional oversight, not just task execution. A degree in business, engineering, or a related field strengthens the case.
Target employers with active cross-border operations
Global Project Manager roles at multinational firms with U.S.-Canada or U.S.-Mexico operations are more likely to have internal TN sponsorship workflows already in place. Focus your search on companies coordinating projects across North American offices, not purely domestic operations.
Clarify the sponsorship process before accepting an offer
Ask the hiring team whether they've filed TN documentation before and who handles it, their legal team or HR. If the employer is new to TN, be ready to walk them through the process. Canadians can have the employer letter ready for port-of-entry admission the same day.
Distinguish your role from general management in offer letters
CBP officers review the employer support letter closely. Ensure your offer letter specifies project scope, deliverables, and consultative functions rather than supervisory headcount. Roles that read as permanent management positions rather than project-based consulting face higher scrutiny at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-sponsoring employers efficiently
Searching for TN-ready Global Project Manager openings manually is slow. Migrate Mate filters job listings by TN visa sponsorship, so you're not spending time on roles where sponsorship is off the table before you even apply.
Prepare for renewal cycles tied to project timelines
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely. If your project contract ends before your TN period does, USCIS requires updated employer documentation for any extension or employer change. Align offer terms with your expected project duration upfront.
Global Project Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Global Project Manager role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It can, but the role must fit the USMCA's Management Consultant category. CBP looks for evidence that the position involves strategic advisory or project-based oversight rather than permanent supervisory management. Your employer's support letter needs to describe specific deliverables, cross-functional coordination, and the consultative nature of the work, not just a job title.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Global Project Manager roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no lengthy USCIS petition process for Canadians who qualify at the port of entry. H-1B visa requires entering a random lottery each spring with no guarantee of selection. For Canadian and Mexican professionals, TN is a faster and more predictable path to starting work, assuming the role fits USMCA's defined categories.
Where can I find Global Project Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. The platform filters listings by TN visa sponsorship so you're only seeing roles where the employer is already open to the process. That removes the guesswork of cold-applying and discovering sponsorship is off the table after an interview.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer needs to provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead covering your job title, project scope, your qualifications, the consultative nature of the work, and the intended duration. Canadian citizens present this letter at a U.S. port of entry alongside their credentials. Mexican citizens submit it as part of a consular visa application package.
Can I switch employers while on TN status as a Global Project Manager?
Yes, but you can't start working for the new employer until you have valid TN authorization for that role. Canadians can seek a new TN at a port of entry with a fresh employer letter. Mexicans need a new consular appointment. There's no USCIS grace period for employment changes, so plan the transition before your last day with the current employer.
