Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Field Services Engineer
Match your credential to the role
TN approval for Field Services Engineers hinges on your degree field matching the technical scope of the position. A mechanical or electrical engineering degree supports most field roles; a general technology degree may not. Verify the match before applying.
Target employers with on-site service contracts
Companies managing infrastructure, industrial equipment, or telecommunications networks routinely hire Field Services Engineers and are familiar with TN sponsorship. Focus your search on firms with active service contracts requiring engineers on client sites across the U.S.
Clarify your entry method before accepting an offer
Canadian citizens can present TN documentation directly at a land port of entry or pre-clearance airport, which can activate status the same day. Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment, so build that timeline into your start date negotiation.
Request a support letter covering technical duties
Your employer's TN support letter must describe the engineering nature of the role, not just the job title. CBP officers evaluate whether field diagnostics, systems integration, or hardware commissioning duties constitute engineering work requiring your specific degree.
Search for sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Field Services Engineer roles at employers with recent visa filings, indicating experience with work visa sponsorship. Filtering by TN-eligible positions saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship discussions would start from zero.
Prepare for multi-site work documentation questions
Field Services Engineers often work across multiple client locations, which can prompt CBP or consular questions about your primary employer relationship. Carry a letter from your employer confirming you remain their W-2 employee regardless of deployment location.

Find Field Services Engineer JobsField Services Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Field Services Engineer role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, provided the position meets the USMCA Engineer category requirements. The role must require at least a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, and your credential must align with the technical duties. Field diagnostics, systems commissioning, and on-site hardware integration generally qualify when the employer's support letter documents the engineering nature of the work clearly.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no annual lottery or cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as status is approved, sometimes the same day at a land border crossing. H-1B requires lottery selection and has an October 1 start date. For Field Services Engineers with Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN is often the faster, more predictable path, assuming the role meets degree alignment requirements.
Where can I find Field Services Engineer jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN-eligible roles in the U.S. You can search Field Services Engineer positions filtered by TN sponsorship, so you're connecting with employers who already understand the USMCA process rather than starting the education process from scratch with every recruiter you contact.
Can my employer sponsor me for TN status if I'll be working at client sites?
Yes, but your employer must document that you remain their direct employee and that the engineering work you perform falls within the TN Engineer category. Multi-site deployment is common in field services roles, so your support letter should explicitly address the employment relationship and clarify that client site work doesn't change your W-2 status or the nature of your duties.
How long does it take to get TN status as a Field Services Engineer?
Canadian citizens applying at a port of entry can receive TN status the same day if documentation is complete. Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate, where processing typically takes a few business days to several weeks depending on appointment availability. TN status is granted in three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely, so there's no urgency to transition to another visa category.
