Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Interventional Cardiologist
Verify your credentials meet ECFMG standards early
U.S. hospitals require Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification before credentialing you. Canadian and Mexican-trained cardiologists should confirm ECFMG status is complete before contacting employers, since missing it stalls offers immediately.
Target hospitals with established international physician pipelines
Academic medical centers and large health systems process TN petitions for physicians routinely. Cardiology-heavy institutions like cardiac centers of excellence have immigration coordinators who understand the TN physician category and won't need educating on sponsorship mechanics.
Clarify TN status with hospital credentialing departments upfront
Credentialing teams sometimes confuse TN with H-1B requirements. Clarify that TN cardiologists don't require USCIS approval for Canadian nationals at entry, which shortens onboarding timelines and prevents compliance holds that delay your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-sponsoring cardiology employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify health systems actively sponsoring TN visa roles for interventional cardiologists. Filter by specialty and location to surface employers whose hiring teams already understand the TN physician category documentation requirements.
Get your offer letter to explicitly name the TN occupation category
CBP requires your offer letter to state 'Physician' as the TN occupation. An offer letter that only lists your internal title, such as 'Interventional Cardiologist,' without the USMCA occupational category has caused TN denials at the port of entry.
Understand Mexican nationals face annual TN cap constraints
Mexico-born interventional cardiologists must account for the annual TN allocation when timing applications. Filing earlier in the fiscal year reduces cap exhaustion risk. Coordinate with your employer's immigration counsel to sequence the filing strategically.

Find Interventional Cardiologist JobsInterventional Cardiologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does interventional cardiology qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Yes. Interventional cardiologists qualify under the USMCA 'Physician' occupational category, which covers physicians who will be teaching or conducting research only, with no patient care in the United States, though most TN cardiology roles are at teaching or research institutions. Clinical patient care positions typically require an H-1B or other visa category, so confirming your role's classification with your employer before filing is essential.
How does TN compare to H-1B for interventional cardiologist roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian nationals, and Canadian citizens can receive approval directly at the port of entry without waiting for USCIS adjudication. H-1B requires surviving a random lottery with limited annual slots and a months-long approval process. However, TN does not allow dual immigrant intent, while H-1B does, so cardiologists pursuing permanent residency should factor that into their long-term planning.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead stating your TN occupational category, your specific duties, your qualifications, the offer terms, and the anticipated duration of employment. You'll also need your medical degree, proof of ECFMG certification, any required state medical licenses, and evidence you meet the USMCA physician requirements. Incomplete employer letters are the most common TN denial trigger for physician applications.
Can I find TN visa sponsoring cardiology employers using Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for interventional cardiologist positions at health systems that offer TN visa sponsorship, so you're not cold-applying to institutions unfamiliar with the process. Filtering by specialty and immigration status helps you reach employers whose HR and credentialing teams already know how to handle the TN physician documentation package.
Can I switch employers while on TN status as a cardiologist?
You can change employers on TN status, but your new employer must prepare a new TN support letter and documentation. Canadian nationals can present the new package at a port of entry for immediate approval, while Mexican nationals must follow the consular processing pathway. Your current TN authorization is tied to your original employer, so you cannot begin work for the new hospital until the new TN is approved.
