Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an IT Architect
Align your credentials to Systems Analyst
CBP classifies IT Architects under the TN Systems Analyst category. Your resume and credentials must explicitly reflect systems design, integration architecture, or enterprise infrastructure work to match that classification during inspection.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Search Migrate Mate's database of employers with recent visa filings for Systems Analyst or IT Architect roles. These employers have demonstrated experience with work visa sponsorship and are far less likely to withdraw an offer mid-process.
Request a detailed support letter early
The employer's TN support letter must describe your specific duties, tie them to the Systems Analyst category, and confirm your bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Vague letters are a leading cause of CBP denials at the port of entry.
Clarify Canadian versus Mexican filing paths upfront
Canadian citizens apply at the port of entry with no prior visa appointment required. Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview and receive a TN visa stamp before entering. Confirm which process applies before your employer starts preparing documentation.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready IT Architect roles
Search Migrate Mate to identify IT Architect positions where employers are already set up to sponsor TN visas, so you're not educating hiring managers about the process from scratch during negotiations.
Negotiate TN filing responsibilities before signing
Unlike H-1B, TN petitions carry no government-mandated employer fee structure, so cost responsibility varies. Confirm in writing whether your employer will prepare the support letter, cover any attorney fees, and handle CBP documentation before you accept an offer.

Find IT Architect JobsIT Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does IT Architect qualify as a TN visa occupation?
IT Architect is not listed verbatim in the USMCA TN schedule, but CBP consistently adjudicates it under the Systems Analyst category. Your role must involve systems design, architecture planning, or enterprise integration work. A support letter that clearly maps your duties to that category is what makes or breaks the classification at the port of entry.
How does TN compare to H-1B for IT Architect roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month USCIS adjudication wait. An H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with roughly a one-in-three selection chance, then several months of processing. For Canadian IT Architects, TN approval can happen the same day at the port of entry. Mexican nationals face a consular appointment step, but still avoid the H-1B lottery entirely.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs a TN support letter on company letterhead describing your job title, duties, the basis for TN classification under Systems Analyst, your start date, and your compensation. You'll also need proof of your qualifying degree and, for Mexican nationals, a completed DS-160 form for the consular appointment. CBP may also request your signed offer letter.
Where can I find IT Architect jobs that already sponsor TN visas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN-sponsored roles in the U.S. Searching there lets you focus on employers who are already set up to navigate the TN process, rather than spending weeks educating companies that have never sponsored a TN worker before.
Can I switch IT Architect employers while on TN status?
Yes, but your TN status is employer-specific. You cannot start work for a new employer until that employer has obtained a new TN authorization for you, either at a port of entry or through USCIS if you're changing status from inside the U.S. Working for the new employer before that approval is issued puts your status at risk.
